Safety valve
The safety valve must be checked about four times a
year. When the knob for the safety valve is turned anti-
clockwise, water should stream through the waste pipe.
If this does not happen, the valve is defective and must
be replaced.
The safety valve sometimes releases a little water after
hot water has been used. This discharge is caused by
the expansion of cold water entering the water heater,
resulting in a pressure increase, whereby the safety valve
opens.
Emptying
Empty the water heater as follows:
1. Switch off the current to the water heater by turn-
ing the isolator switch (2) to "0".
2. Close the shut-off valve (22) (turn anticlockwise).
3. Open the mixer valve (25) fully (turn anticlockwise).
4. Open the safety valve (23) (turn slowly anticlockwise
until it remains in the raised position).
NOTE!
Draining is through the safety valve over­
flow pipe. Beware of any water splashes.
5. Open all hot water taps to let air into the system. If
this is not sufficient, loosen a pipe coupling (marked
HW) on the mixer valve.
6. For faster drainage slacken off the vacuum valve (21)
a couple of turns. Some water will run out.
If the immersion heater is changed the rest of the wa-
ter, about a litre, will run out at the immersion heater
flange.

Check the installation's fuses as well as the thermostat
and mixer valve settings.
Check the external solar panel equipment.
Wait a few hours without tapping any hot water and
then check whether the temperature level has risen. If
there is still no hot water, contact the installation engi-
neer.
Resetting the temperature limiter
If the temperature limiter (5) has tripped, the water
heater must cool for at least one hour before it can be
reset.
1. Remove the thermostat knob (7) and the plastic
cover (9).
2. Press the button on the temperature limiter lightly.
