B 4: Working position. Adjust the ear-muffs until they
are comfortable. Make sure that the cushions seal tightly
around the ears.
NOTICE! In noisy environments, the ear-muffs must be
worn in the working position at all times.
B 5: Stand-by position. Pull the ear-muff away from the
ear until it locks into the stand-by position.
B 6: Parking Position. First lift the cups to the stand-by
position, and then rotate them up to the next fixed
position. In this position, the cushion does not get
damaged or dirty and the cups can dry out on the inside.
NOTICE! Do not press the ear-muffs against the helmet
shell as the spring force can cause cracks around the side
of the helmet.
B 7: Storage Position. When the helmet is not in use,
fold the hearing protectors down and inwards.

Radio functions

General
The ear-muffs are equipped with an integrated FM radio
reciever which operates over the FM frequency band.
Check correct operation before use. If distortion or failure
is detected, follow the instructions for maintenance and
battery replacement.
Function keys (Figure C)
On/Off
Switch on the electronics by pressing the key (O). To
switch off, press the same key (O) and hold for 2 seconds.
(D1)
Volume adjustment
When powered up, the default mode is volume mode.
Adjust the volume by pressing shortly the (+) or (-) button.
(C2)
When switched on, the volume starts at the same setting
as when it was last switched off. The volume has four fixed
settings. When the highest volume setting has been
reached, pressing the key again will start the volume from
the lowest setting.
Setting radio station
To get to radio frequency mode, press the central button
(O). (C1)
The FM radio frequency band is 88-108 MHz. Station
tuning is automatic. Pressing the desired directional key
down (-) or up (+) will tune the radio to the next station and
then stop. If there is no action during more than 3 sec, the
radio frequency mode will switch automatically back to
volume mode. A short beep will be heard whenever a key
is pressed. A long beep is heared at each end of the
frequency band. The FM radio starts at the latest used
station. This memory is erased when the batteries are
replaced. (D2)

Product user guide
Frequency hopping
To hop to the higher end of the frequency band press the
(+) and (O) keys simultaneously, and to hop to the lower
end press the (-) and (O) keys simultaneously.
Audio input (AUX)
The product has one input, 3,5-mm stereo socket, for
connecting an external audio source such as a
communication radio, hunting radio, mobile phone, CD
player, radio, etc.
If there is a call on the audio input, the FM radio is
automatically muted and remains muted until around 10
seconds after the end of the call. If there is a pause in the
call lasting more than 10 seconds, the FM radio setting
function will automatically be restored. If the audio signal
does not exceed 95 mVrms (rms=root mean square of
signal strength), the sound level inside the hearing
protector will not exceed 82 dB(A). (C3)
Sound level limitation
The output from the FM radio is limited to a maximum of
82 dB(A) equivalent sound level.
When calculating the effective attenuation of the hearing
protector, consideration should be given to the output
signals of the radio restoration. The calculated total A-
weighted sound pressure level inside the cup should not
exceed 85 dB.
Battery
General
The performance may deteriorate with battery usage. The
battery life time varies depending on the mode of use and
volume output. For FM Radio in radio mode about 100h.
Battery-saving function
To maximise battery life the product is equipped with a
battery-saving function. This function automatically
switches off the electronics after 4 hours if none of the
keys is pressed during this period. To switch back on,
press the (O) key. (C1)
About 2 minutes before automatic switch-off occurs, a
series of beeps will be heard as a warning that the
hearing protector is about to be switched off. Press any
key to delay switch-off by a further 4 hours.
Low battery warning
Two tones will be heard when about 10-20 percent of the
battery life remains. The battery warning is repeated
every half hour until the batteries are completely
discharged.
Battery replacement (Figure D)
The product must be equipped with two standard alkaline
batteries, 1.5 V AA/L6R. The use of rechargeable
batteries such as NiMH 1.2 V or NiCd 1.2 V will
significantly reduce the operating time.
