5. FIRST START-UP

5.1. Inserting the batteries

1. Open the battery compartment on the back of the device by pushing the battery
compartment coverin the direction indicated by the arrow. Remove the cover.
2. Insert 4 AA batteries, ensuring the right direction. The polarity
of the batteries is embossed into the base of the battery compartment.
3. Replace the battery compartment cover and
close it until you hear a click.
NOTE!
Batteries that are running low should be replaced in good time or the power adaptor used as
described in section 5.2.

5.2. Connecting the power adaptor

1. Insert the power adaptor's DC plug into the connector labelled DC 5.9 V 1A
on the back of the DABMAN 16. Then plug the powder adaptor into
a 100-240V ~ 50/60Hz socket.
NOTE!
Even when in standby mode, the device remains connected to mains power. Remove the plug
from the socket if the device will not be used for a longer period of time. Only pull the plug, do
not pull the cable.

5.3 Orientating the telescopic antenna

The number and signal quality of the stations to be received depends on the reception
conditions at the setup site. Excellent signal reception can be achieved with the telescopic
antenna.
1. Position the telescopic antenna and extend it fully.

5.3 Turning the device on/off

2. Press the standby button (8) to turn the radio on.
Pressing the button again will turn the radio off.

5.4. Setting the volume

Use the knob on the top of the radio to increase or decrease the
volume.
