3.5 SWITCHING BETWEEN TV AND RADIO

Switching between radio and TV is done using the R or TV keys. Both keys also affect the
switching impulse voltage of the TV SCART socket. If you also receive channels on your TV set
via antenna or cable, you can switch between the channel received by your TV set or by the
satellite receiver using the TV key provided that the switching impulse voltage is detected and
processed by your TV set.
N.B.:
All channel functions available for TV (last channel, zapper function,
favourite lists, channel lists and channel pool etc.) are also available
separately for 1000 radio channels.

3.6 DIGITAL/ANALOG AUDIO MODE

In digital satellite technology audio and video are generally transmitted in digital form (MPEG
coded). Where the term «Analog Audio Mode» is used in this section, it means that the digital
signals are converted into analog audio signals in the unit and are made available in analog form
at the «Left» and «Right» cinch sockets and also at the TV and VCR Scart sockets.
In «Digital Audio Mode» on the other hand the signals are transmitted to appropriate terminals,
such as a Dolby Surround System, for decoding in digital form via the «digital» cinch socket.
Either two-channel stereo signals (coded in PCM format) or complex multi-channel surround
signals (Dolby digital/AC-3) can be transmitted at the digital socket.
Press key A to display the «Digital/Analog Audio Mode» menu. You can use this menu as an
information display and immediately exit from it again by pressing key A again - or change
various settings.
Analog outputs: In the right-hand window you can see the current signal status of the pins at
the rear of your satellite receiver.
You receive an analog audio signal at the cinch sockets and via the TV and
VCR Scart sockets.
Occasionally bilingual broadcasts are transmitted using the two stereo chan-
nels «Left» and «Right». In this case you would hear e.g. «German» from the
left-hand and «English» from the right-hand loudspeaker. To hear just one lan-
guage, use the + (or *) key to select «Mono-L» or «Mono-R» and confirm
your selection with the OK key. The current selection has a white background.
Most bilingual or multilingual broadcasts however are transmitted using sepa-
rate audio tracks. In this case e.g. German would be displayed under 1 and
English under 2 in the left-hand window, both languages being audible in
stereo sound. Use the 9 or 8 keys to select the desired language and con-
firm your selection using the OK key. The language (or audio track) currently
selected has a white background.
