B. During OS Installation

NOTE: If the Smart Array 5300 will be the boot controller, please refer to Chapter 2,

"Installing the Smart Array 5300 as the Boot Controller", in the user guide. This section

contains detailed instructions on installing the Smart Array 5300 as the boot controller,

configuring a drive array, and optionally creating and populating a system partition

before installing the Operating System.

1. Run the ORCA (Option ROM Configuration for Arrays) and verify that the Compaq

Smart Array 5300 Controller is set to Controller Order First. (Refer to the System

Configuration section of the Smart Array 5300 Controller User Guide for more

detailed information.)

2. Boot the system from the SCO provided OpenServer 5.0.x 'Boot' diskette/CD, a

boot prompt screen similar to the following will be displayed.

SCO OpenServer

:defbootstr link=ciss hd=Sdsk

3. After the system finishes reading the information on the 'Boot' diskette/CD, a

screen similar to the following will be displayed, prompting you to insert the

Compaq Boot-time loadable drivers for SCO OpenServer Release 5.

Loading kernel fd (64) unix .bss

Loading kernel symbol table, this may take a few minutes

Please insert the fd (65) ciss volume and press <Return>, Or 'q' to quit:

4. Proceed through the remainder of the Installation as directed by the messages on

the screen.
