6 SETTING-TO-WORK

Note:
Modular generators of the small and big family made in Hamburg are out of service. For
information about installation of an X-ray tube housing assembly together with modular
generator it is necessary to contact the Helpdesk X-ray in Hamburg.
Setting-to-work includes:
– Software and hardware programming for the X-ray tube type.
– Adjustment for the filament.
– Adaptation and running-in of the X-ray tube.

6.1 X-ray tube conditioning

RADIATION
Radiation is released during the conditioning process.
Observe the regulations for radiation protection.
The conditioning process must be performed for each new X-ray tube housing assembly
to be connected, irrespective of the storage time.
The intervals between exposures must be adhered too and monitored by a watch.
Note:
Conditioning has to be performed with the large focal spot only.
The first exposure of each day does not require warming up.
For operating breaks of more than 3 months, an exposure-series have to be made with the
specified kV and mAs values as given in the table below.
The generator must be in READY state, i.e. the green LED on the desk must be lit. Pay at-
tention that the READY state conditions are met.
The exposure run (kV - mAs / kV - mAs - s and break time) must always be performed at
the selected kV level without repeating the start-up procedure of the X-ray tube housing
assembly, i.e. the PREP button must remain to be pressed during the run.
