Powering capacitive loads only
Capacitive symmetrical three-phase loads (power factor in advance) can be powered at a maximum power (in
KVAR) of 0.25 times the power (in KVA) indicated on the plate.
5.8 Commissioning
Before comminssioning the machine, the insulation with Megger at 500Vcc 1 minute after powering.
The minimum value of the insulation resistance for a new winding of 200 MΩ at room temperature of 40°C is
one of the basic requirements for the electrical safety of the stator.
GENERATORS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN OPERATED OR THAT HAVE REMAINED INACTIVE FOR
LONG PERIODS OF TIME CANNOT BE STARTED UP IF THE INSULATION RESISTANCE IS BELOW 100
MΩ A TEMPERATURE OF 40°C. Otherwise, depending on the case, check the polarization index o recondition
the active parts.
DO NOT START UP THE MACHINE IF THE POLARIZATION INDEX IS BELOW 1.5. (Chapter 5.2)
In order to avoid the risk of electroshock, shortly connect the windings to the ground immediately after the
measurement.
