5 Connections
Before connecting any units or changing any
connections, switch off the speaker system
and the units to be connected .
5.1 Microphones and
other audio sources
1) Connect a microphone to one of the
combined XLR / 6 .3 mm jacks (5) of input
CH . A or CH . B .
Set the corresponding switch for the
input sensitivity (3) to the position MIC .
Note: If a microphone requires phantom power,
connect the microphone to the input via a phan-
tom power supply .
2) To connect an audio source with line
level (e . g . mixer, CD / MP3 player, receiver
for wireless microphones), use the RCA
jacks LINE INPUT (8) of the input CH . D .
When both RCA jacks are used (e . g . stereo
signal of a CD player), the sum (mono) of
the signals will be created .
Note: When a Bluetooth audio source is used, the
signals of this source will be added to the input
signal of channel CH . D .
It is also possible to use the combined
XLR / 6 .3 mm jacks (5) of the inputs CH . A
or CH . B . In this case, set the corresponding
switch for the input sensitivity (3) to the
position LINE .
3) Musical instruments that require a high-
impedance input can be connected to the
6 .3 mm jack (7) of the channel CH . C HI-Z .
4) If required, the signals of the inputs CH . A
and CH . B can be routed from the XLR con-
nections LINE LINK (6) to other audio units
(e . g . mixer) .
5.2 Additional amplifier system or
recorder
An additional audio unit with line level input
(e . g . an additional amplifier system to pro-
vide sound to a larger area) or a recorder can
be connected to the XLR jack MIX OUTPUT
PRE DSP (9) . At this jack, the mixed signal
of all audio sources is available before it is
processed by the signal processor .
5.3 Power supply
Connect the mains cable provided to the
mains jack (11) and to a mains socket
(230 V/ 50 Hz) .

6 Operation

1) Before first-time operation or if you do
not know the total volume most recently
adjusted, turn the volume controls (4) of
all four input channels to −∞ (left stop) to
avoid switching noise or a volume which
is too high .
2) First switch on the audio sources con-
nected, then use the power switch (13)
to switch on VERT-12 . On the display (1), a
horizontal bar will indicate the signal levels
of the input signals , , , / ; the total
volume setting MAIN will be indicated as
value of the amplification (in decibels) .
3) Use the corresponding volume controls
(4) to mix the signals of the input chan-
nels or to mute or unmute the signals as
required . When using a Bluetooth audio
source, also refer to chapter 6 .1 .6 . Only
adjust the volume to such a level that the
sound reproduced will not be distorted .
The horizontal bar of a level indication
will frequently pass the marker line on the
right side if the input level is too high . In
this case, reduce the input level by means
of the corresponding volume control; oth-
erwise, the sound will distort .
Use the rotary knob DSP CONTROL (2) to
adjust the total volume . Make sure that
the setting menu has not been called up
(chapter 6 .1) .
CAUTION Make sure to use an ade-
quate volume level . Per-
manent high volumes may
damage your hearing .
To prevent feedback howl, never direct
the microphone towards the speaker and
never place it too close to it . Feedback
may also occur when the volume is too
high . In this case, reduce the microphone
volume by means of the corresponding
volume control (4) .
4) Use the control SUB LEVEL (10) to adjust
the volume of the bass speaker and thus
the bass content .
5) To adjust the total sound, call up the
setting menu (chapter 6 .1) . After sound
adjustment, readjust the total volume if
required .
6.1 Setting menu
The setting menu (fig . 4) can be used to make
sound adjustments, set a signal delay, select
presettings, make settings for the display
and save user-defined settings . In addition,
the setting menu allows you to establish the
connection to an audio source via Bluetooth .
To call up the setting menu, press the
knob DSP CONTROL (2) . The first lines of the
menu will be shown:
HI EQ:
0dB
MID EQ:
0dB
MID FREQ:
1.0kHz
1) To select a menu line, turn the knob DSP
CONTROL .
2) To call up a menu item or function, press
the knob DSP CONTROL .
3) To adjust a value or to select an option,
turn the knob; then press the knob to
confirm .
4) To exit the menu, select the menu item
and then confirm . As an alternative,
EXIT
just wait; the menu will automatically be
exited after a few seconds if no input is
made .
6.1.1 Presettings
It is possible to select a basic sound setting
matching the type of application: Use the

6.1.2 Sound adjustment
VERT-12 provides a 3-band equalizer with
semiparametric midrange control . In addition,
a switchable high pass filter with a selectable
cut-off frequency to suppress low-frequency
noise (e . g . impact sound) is available .

6.1.3 Signal delay
When multiple speaker systems are placed
at different distances to the audience, it may
be useful to delay the signal of the speaker
systems that are closer to the audience . This
will balance the different sound delay times
that arise from different distances and the
sound of all speaker systems will reach the
audience at the same time .
Determine the difference between the
distances of two systems to the audience .
For the system closer to the audience, enter
the distance (in meters) via the menu item
. The processor will calculate the cor-
DELAY
responding delay time . When the setting
is selected, the signal will not be delayed .
6.1.4 Display settings
