than originally intended, if they are not correctly
connected, operated, or not repaired in an expert
way.
Important for U. K. Customers!
The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accord-
ance with the following code:
green/yellow = earth
blue = neutral
brown = live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this
appliance may not correspond with the coloured
markings identifying the terminals in your plug, pro-
ceed as follows:
1. The wire which is coloured green and yellow must
be connected to the terminal in the plug which is
marked with the letter E or by the earth symbol
or coloured green or green and yellow.
2. The wire which is coloured blue must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter N or coloured black.
3. The wire which is coloured brown must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter L or coloured red.
Warning - This appliance must be earthed.
If the units are to be put out of operation de-
finitively, take them to a local recycling plant
for a disposal which is not harmful to the envi-
ronment.
Exhausted dry batteries or defective rechargeable
batteries do not belong in the household rubbish: Al-
ways take them to a special waste disposal (e. g.
waste container at your retailer).
3 Applications
The wireless PA system TXA-400 consists of a wire-
less hand-held microphone transmitting on the fre-
quency of 433.05 MHz and an active speaker system
with integrated microphone receiver. It is possible to
operate the active speaker system alternatively via a
230 V mains voltage, via a DC voltage of 12 – 15 V
supplied externally (e. g. from a car battery), or via bat-
teries. Thus, the system is ideally suited for application
at varying locations, e. g. for lectures or sales events.
The active speaker system is also provided with
two inputs for cable-connected microphones, an Aux
input for an audio unit with line output level (e. g. cas-
sette recorder, radio cassette recorder, portable CD
player) and an output to connect a recording unit or
another amplifier. By means of an integrated recharge
facility, the unit also allows to recharge exhausted
rechargeable batteries (1 x 9 V battery, 2 x battery of
size AA).
3.1 Conformity and Approval
Herewith, MONACOR INTERNATIONAL declare that
the wireless PA system TXA-400 is in accordance with
the basic requirements and the other relevant
regulations of the directive 1995/5/EC. The declara-
tion of conformity can be found in the Internet
via the MONACOR INTERNATIONAL home page
(www.monacor.com).
The wireless PA system is licence-free and gene-
rally approved for operation in EU and EFTA countries.

4 Setting the System into Operation

4.1 Setting up the active speaker system
The active speaker system can be placed as desired
or mounted on a stand with M8 thread by means of the
thread jack on its lower side. When mounting the unit
on a stand, remove the protective cover of the thread
jack [(13) in fig. 1] and screw the active speaker sys-
tem on the stand via this jack.
,
4.2 Power supply of the active speaker system
It is possible to operate the unit alternatively via the
230 V mains supply, via an external DC voltage source
supplying a voltage of 12 V to 15 V, or via batteries.
4.2.1 Mains connection
In case of mains operation, the battery compartment
(25) of the unit is switched off.
1) The mains cable is stowed behind the removable
cover plate on the rear side of the unit: Press down
the two snap locks at the top of the cover plate, fold
down the cover plate and remove it.
2) Take out the mains cable (23) and remove the
cable tie.
3) Put the cover plate back in place, while doing so
lead the mains cable through the cable outlet at the
bottom of the cover plate. Snap in the locks of the
cover plate.
4) Connect the plug of the mains cable to a mains
socket (230 V~/50 Hz).
4.2.2 External DC voltage source
For an operation independent of the mains supply, it is
possible to operate the unit via a 12 V battery (e. g.
12 V car battery). To connect the power supply to the
low voltage jack (24) on the rear side of the unit, a low
voltage plug with an outside diameter of 5 mm or
5.5 mm and an inside diameter of 2.1 mm is required.
It is essential to observe the correct polarity: Apply the
negative pole to the inner contact of the plug.
When connecting an external DC voltage source,
the battery compartment (25) of the unit is switched off.
4.2.3 Inserting batteries
1) The battery compartment is situated behind the
removable cover plate on the rear side of the unit:
Press down the two snap locks at the top of the
cover plate, fold down the cover plate and remove it.
2) Insert eight 1.5 V batteries of size D into the battery
compartment (25). Observe the correct polarity:
insert the batteries as printed in the battery com-
partment.
3) Put the cover plate back in place and snap in the
locks.
