Water ballast

The MONTIS was not designed to be flown with water ballast.

Schools

This harness was not developed for use in paragliding schools and should
not be used for initial training. The airbag only inflates in flight and the harness
therefore only offers limited passive safety during the take off phase.

Towing

The MONTIS was designed as a mountaineering harness and is not suitable for
towing.

Tandem

This harness is neither suitable for passenger nor tandem pilot. It should not be
used for dual flying.

Care, repair and maintenance

Maintenance

Our harnesses are made from durable materials that can withstand a lot of usage
and stress. However, how the harness is treated is a major factor in its usable life
span. We recommend regularly checking the harness for wear and damaged stit-
ching or straps.
If you notice any faults, we recommend contacting your NOVA Service Partner im-
mediately. For repairs, please contact NOVA or a NOVA Service Partner. If you find
any faults in critical structural parts (straps, buckles, hang points) we recommend
you do not use the harness!
Do not modify the harness. For repairs please contact one of our approved service
centres.
At least once a year, the harness should have a full inspection. Check all seams,
straps and buckles. This inspection can be combined with a parachute repack.
If you have deployed the parachute, we recommend inspecting the connecting
strap and hang points. This inspection should be performed by an approved
service centre.
Minimise the unnecessary exposure of your harness to UV radiation. Avoid tempe-
ratures below -20˚C and above 60˚C. Protect it from moisture, salt water, acid or
base liquids and treat it well. Look after it and store it as recommended.
The following points are pertinent to its longevity:
• Do not expose the harness to large temperature fluctuations (e.g. in your car). Du-
ring long-term storage make sure there is plenty of ventilation and air circulation
(to minimise condensation).
• After landing, pack the harness away quickly. This protects it from harmful UV
rays.
• If the harness is damp, dry it at room temperature either inside or outside in a
shady place. Please note: repack your parachute!
• If the harness comes into contact with salt water, it must be thoroughly cleaned
in fresh water. Then follow the steps described above to dry it.
• In the case of an incident (e.g. a hard scuff or an impact), ask an expert to examine
it.
• Only use fresh water and a soft brush to clean the harness. Never use any kind of
detergent and/or a washing machine.
• Regularly check straps, seams and buckles. These must be undamaged.
• Regularly check the parachute connection strap.
• Regularly check the parachute handle. Pay particular attention to the pins/rods.
Please read your parachute manual and make note of the required repacking inter-
vals. If the parachute becomes too hot, is exposed to mechanical stress or beco-
mes damp/wet it should be immediately aired and repacked.

Airbag care and maintenance

Treat the rucksack and airbag with great care. Tears or other damage can impact
on their effectiveness. In this case we strongly recommend repair by a suitably
qualified person.
Like all lightweight airbags, the protector is subjected to mechanical wear and he-
avy usage may lead to a reduction of its effectiveness. If the INVERTO is showing
signs of wear and tear, we recommend replacing it.
After a hard landing, the airbag should be checked by an expert (NOVA Service
Partner). Sharp items, for example barbed wire, may also damage the airbag.
