6.3 Preparing coffee

Use the portafilter with the corresponding filter (1 cup) for the preparation of 1 cup and use the big filter (2
cups) to prepare two cups. Make sure that the filter is firmly locked into the portafilter.
Fill the ground coffee with the respective grind for espresso into the filter. (The marking inside the filter
basket can help you find the right amount of coffee.)
Compress the ground coffee with the tamper. A tamping pressure of approx. 20 kg is recommended. Thus
the ground coffee is evenly compacted. Clamp the portafilter firmly into the brew group.
Place the cup under the spouts of the portafilter (to prepare two cups, place one cup under each spout).
The coffee preparation can begin after having pressed the coffee button. In general, the brewing time should
be around 23 to 25 seconds. The volume for a single espresso is circa 25 to 30 ml. The pump pressure
gauge indicates approx. 8.5 -12 bar. When the cup is filled, press the coffee button on the front panel again.
The remaining pressure/water will be discharged into the drip tray by the outlet connection behind the drip
tray.
Important
Only freshly ground coffee allows for an optimal coffee result. Therefore, use a professional
coffee grinder. In our assortment you will find several professional and compact coffee
grinders.
We recommend using a stainless steel tamper with a diameter of 58 mm for optimum
tamping.

6.4 Dispensing of hot water

Place an adequate container (with heat-insulated handle) under the steam/hot water dispenser. By operating
the pump switch (Image 1 – no.8). and opening the valve, you can dispense hot water.
Caution!
Always place the nozzle of the dispenser into the water container in order to avoid injuries
due to hot water spillings.

6.5 Dispensing of steam

The CASA V makes it possible to generate large amounts of steam in order to heat or froth beverages, e.g.
milk or punch.
Please follow the instructions below. Do not bring the milk to a boil, otherwise frothing milk will not be
possible. For cappuccino and white coffee preparation, first brew the coffee and then start steam
dispensing.
For high-pressure steam dispensing, the water in the boiler has to be heated to more than 100 °C.
Important!
Operate the steam switch (Image 1 – no.4). The machines heats up and the control lamp for
heating turns on. The indicator of the pump pressure gauge may move slightly.
Place an adequate container (with heat-insulated handle) under the steam/hot water dispenser. Open the
steam valve for approx. 5 seconds to reduce the boiler water capacity and generate a bigger steam volume.
Repeat this process twice in intervals approx. 10 seconds each.
Wait until the control lamp for heating switches off. Now the machine has the right operating temperature.
Immerse the steam nozzle at the end of the steam dispenser into the milk. Now re-open the steam dispenser
and heat or froth the liquid. Switch off the steam function (Image 1 – no.4).
Caution!
Always keep the steam nozzle underneath the surface of the liquid while heating or frothing
in order to avoid sprayings. This may cause injuries.
Advice
After frothing the milk, release the steam into the drip tray to keep the steam nozzle holes
clean.
Clean the steam nozzle and the steam dispenser after every use with a damp cloth in order
to remove possible liquid residues..
