Cleaning
After use the colour centrifuge should be carefully cleaned with water and cloths. The plastic
pan can be removed for cleaning and washed in the sink. The machine itself should only ever be
wiped clean with a damp cloth and never held under a running tap, as water might get into the
interior.
Tips for (kindergarten) teachers
Centrifugal force (Age: 4+)
While playing, the children acquire experience of the centrifugal force generated by the
turning movement. It is caused by the inertia of the object.
The effects of centrifugal force can be experienced in many situations in everyday life –
for instance when the seats of a fairground "chairoplane" fly outwards as it turns, or the
way water is forced out when the lettuce is "whizzed"., Ask the children whether they
have ever been on a "chairoplane" and if so, get them to describe their experience.
Training motor skills (Age: 4+):
By working the handle of the centrifuge and working with paints and brushes children
practise their motor skills. For further motor training, the children can see whether they
can manage to turn the handle with one hand while applying paint to the paper with
the other.
Describing (Age: 4+):
Get the children to describe the abstract works of art. Can they recognise any shapes,
creatures or objects? Discuss with the children what they can see in the pictures, or how
they could be interpreted using their imagination.
