3.1 Approval
According to the R + TTE regulation (Radio and Tele-
communication Technical Equipment), the approvals
for the microphone system are valid in the countries of
the European Union. The transmitter does not require
a further frequency assignment by the corresponding
authorities. For operation outside the EU, please
contact your retailer or the MONACOR subsidiary in
the country where this system will be operated.

4 Power Supply

4.1 Microphone
1) Unscrew the screw cap (11) at the lower end of the
microphone.
2) Insert a 9 V battery with the positive and negative
connections as printed in the battery compartment
(12). Screw on the cap (11).
3) With a new battery the microphone can be operated
for approx. 6 – 8 hours. If the power LED (14) does
not light up with the microphone switched on, the
battery is exhausted and must be replaced.
4) If the system is not used for a longer period (e. g. for
more than a week), the battery should be removed.
Thus the microphone will not be damaged in case
the battery should leak.
4.2 Receiver
1) Connect the supplied plug-in power supply to the
power supply jack SUPPLY 12 V
2) Plug the plug-in power supply unit into a mains
socket (230 V~/50 Hz).
3) The receiver can also be supplied with any other
12 V DC power source of a minimum rating of
300 mA, e. g. car battery or another power supply.
For connection, a low voltage plug 5.0/2.1 mm (out-
side/inside diameters) is required. The positive
pole must be applied to the center contact.

5 Operation

1) The receiver is provided with two outputs for
connecting the subsequent unit (e. g. amplifier,
mixer):
BAL MIC (10) = XLR jack, balanced
for connecting a balanced microphone input
AUX (9) = 6.3 mm jack, unbalanced
for connecting an unbalanced microphone input
or a highly sensitive line input
If the subsequent unit is provided with a balanced
microphone input, the XLR jack should be used for
an optimum signal tranfer.
Connect the subsequent unit. Do not switch on the
subsequent unit or turn on the corresponding mixer
control until the entire microphone system has been
switched on.
2) Place the antenna/s (6) in a vertical position and
extract them to their full extent. In case of models
TXS-440SET and TXS-442SET turn the two anten-
nas away from each other at an angle of approx.
45° to their former position.

3) Switch on the receiver with the POWER switch (4).
The POWER LED (1) will light up.
4) Adjust the muting threshold. For this purpose leave
the microphone switched off. Use a small screw-
driver to turn the control SQELCH (7) clockwise to
the position "MAX SENSITIVITY". The reception
LED (2) must not light up:
TXS-400SET, TXS-402SET – "MIC ON" must not
TXS-440SET, TXS-442SET – neither "A" nor "B"
If the reception LED lights up, interferences are
received. To suppress these interferences, only turn
the control SQELCH counter-clockwise until the
reception LED is extinguished. Do not turn the con-
trol any further otherwise the microphone signal
may also be suppressed.
5) Switch on the microphone: Move the switch (13) to
the upper position. In mid-position the microphone
is mute, i. e. no signal is transmitted. The reception
LED (2) at the receiver must light up:
TXS-400SET, TXS-402SET – MIC ON lights up
TXS-440SET, TXS-442SET – "A" or "B" light up
If the LED remains dark, the reception is too weak:
a Is the microphone battery exhausted? See chap-
ter 4.1.
b Is the distance between microphone and re-
ceiver too long (max. approx. 30 m)?
c Is the reception disturbed e. g. by objects in the
transmission path?
d Can the reception be improved by turning the
antenna/s?
e Is the muting threshold adjusted via control
SQELCH (7) too high? See item 4).
6) Switch on the subsequent unit or turn on the corre-
sponding control of the mixer. If the output AUX (9)
is used, adjust the output volume to the input of the
subsequent unit via the control AUX VOLUME (8).
Important! Do not adjust the control AUX VOLUME
to zero (i. e. to its extreme left position) if the signal
is received at the XLR jack (10).
7) If the microphone system is overdriven because the
volume at the microphone is too high, the red LED
AF PEAK (3) will light up – independent of volume
control AUX VOLUME (8). The volume of the sound
source must be reduced or the distance between
the microphone and the sound source must be
increased.
If the volume at the microphone is low, a poor
S/N ratio is obtained. The volume of the sound
source must be increased or the distance between
the microphone and the sound source must be
reduced.
8) After operation, the microphone must be switched
off as well, otherwise the battery will be exhausted
the next time the microphone system is used. If the
microphone system is not used for a longer period,
disconnect the plug-in power supply from the mains
socket since the system has a low power consump-
tion even if the receiver has been switched off.
