Trouble shooting

Danger!
Prior to any servicing:
Switch machine OFF.
Unplug power cable.
Wait for cutterblock to come to a complete
stop.
Check to see that all safety devices are operational
after any servicing.
Undervoltage relay
tripped by temporary
voltage failure.
No supply voltage
Motor overheated, e.g.
caused by
dull planer knives
overloading
chip buildup.
Planer knives dull
Drive belt slips
Planer knives dull
Planer knives blocked
by chips
Moisture contents of
workpiece too high
Planer knives dull
Planer knives blocked
by chips
Workpiece was planed
against the grain
Too much material
removed in one pass
Resin buildup on thick-
nesser bed

Motor does not run
Start again.
Check cables, plug, out-
let and mains fuse.
Remove cause for over-
heating and allow to
cool down for approx.
10 minutes, then start
again.
Performance lessens
Install sharp knives.
Re-tension drive belt
Planed surface not smooth
Install sharp knives.
Remove chips.
Dry workpiece.
Planed surface cracked
Install sharp knives.
Remove chips.
Plane workpiece in
opposite direction
Make several passes
with thinner depth of
cut.
Feed rate too little
(thicknessing)
Clean thicknesser bed
and apply light coat of
anti-seize compound.
Repair feed rollers.
Re-tension drive belt
