• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible because of
safety and approval reasons (CE).
• The design of the mains transformer complies with protection class II. As a voltage source,
only a proper power socket (230V~, 50Hz) connected to the public power supply system may
be used.
• This product is not a toy, and should be kept out of the reach of children. Children cannot
assess the dangers arising from incorrect use of electrical devices. Be especially careful if
children are around.
• Only use in dry indoor locations. The product must be protected from damp and wet, as there
is a risk of a fatal electric shock! Never touch the product with wet hands.
• Do not expose the product to extreme temperatures (< 0°C or > +40°C), direct bright sun-
light, strong vibrations, high humidity or strong mechanical stress.
• Never use the product immediately after it has been brought from a cold room into a warm
one. Condensation that forms might destroy the device. Furthermore, there is a danger of an
electric shock.
Wait until the product is at room temperature and the condensation has evaporated. This may
take several hours.
Then plug the power supply into an mains socket and put the product into operation.
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. They may become dangerous playthings for chil-

Configuration, Connection
Depending on the available, or the desired, cable connection, the slide switches on the converter need
to be set accordingly, and the connections must be made via the 4-pole terminal strip.
Then connect the power supply with the mains socket and the converter (the power-LED, at the right
next to the slide switches, flashes), connect it to the RS232-interface.
When the RS232-interface provides the power supply (usually via Pin 9 of the 25-pole
connector), a power transformer is not always necessary. In this case, the power-LED (at
the right next to the slide switches) does not flash.
