Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt ist zum Anschluss an ein SATA-Slimline-CD-/DVD-Laufwerk vorgesehen und
ermöglicht damit den Anschluss des SATA-CD-/DVD-Laufwerks an einen 44poligen Notebook-
IDE-Anschluss (Rastermaß 2mm).
Dieses Produkt erfüllt die gesetzlichen, nationalen und europäischen Anforderungen. Alle ent-
haltenen Firmennamen und Produktbezeichnungen sind Warenzeichen der jeweiligen Inhaber.

Einstellung der Betriebsart „Master", „Slave" oder „Cable-Select"
Auf dem Adapter finden Sie drei Steckbrücken (J3), die mit „C", „S" und „M" beschriftet sind:
M„Master"
S „Slave"
C „Cable Select"
Wählen Sie mit den Steckbrücken die Einstellung von „Master" (M), „Slave" (S) bzw. „Cable
Select" (C) aus. An einem IDE-Kabel darf es nur ein „Master"-Gerät und ein „Slave"-Gerät
geben.
Die Einstellung „Cable Select" darf nur bei dafür geeigneten Geräten, Kabeln und
Mainboards verwendet werden. Beachten Sie ggf. die Bedienungsanleitung zu
Ihrem Mainboard. In der Regel sind dafür spezielle IDE-Kabel zu verwenden.
Wir empfehlen Ihnen, nur die Einstellungen „Master" oder „Slave" zu verwenden.
Anschluss und Montage
• Der Adapter ist nur für ein SATA-Slimline-CD-/DVD-Laufwerk geeignet.
• Stecken Sie den Adapter auf die Anschlüsse des CD-/DVD-Laufwerks auf und schrauben Sie
die Platine über die beiden mitgelieferten Schrauben am CD-/DVD-Laufwerk fest. Wenden Sie
beim Festschrauben keine Gewalt an.
• Schließen Sie das 44polige IDE-Kabel in richtiger Orientierung an. Pin 1 ist mit einem kleinen
Dreieck gekennzeichnet und liegt am Platinenrand auf der Seite der Steckbrücken J3. Pin 1
am IDE-Kabel ist farbig markiert.
An jedem IDE-Kabel darf es nur ein „Master"- und ein „Slave"-Gerät geben. Wird nur ein ein-
ziges IDE-Gerät an einem IDE-Kabel angeschlossen, so ist dieses auf „Master" einzustellen
und am Ende des Kabels anzuschließen.
Wird am gleichen Kabel zusätzlich eine IDE-Festplatte angeschlossen, so ist diese auf
„Master" einzustellen, die Steckbrücke auf dem Adapter auf „Slave" („S").
• Die Stromversorgung des Laufwerks erfolgt direkt über das 44polige IDE-Kabel.
Tipps und Hinweise
• Es ist keine Treibersoftware im Lieferumfang, da diese Bestandteil des Betriebssystems ist.
Das SATA-Laufwerk wird vom Computer wie ein herkömmliches IDE-Laufwerk erkannt und
vom Betriebssystem eingebunden.
• Achten Sie unbedingt auf die richtige Einstellung der Steckbrücken für „Master", „Slave" und
„Cable Select", da andernfalls eines oder ggf. beiden Geräte an einem IDE-Kabel nicht erkannt
werden. Achten Sie auch auf die richtige Anordnung der auf „Master" bzw. „Slave" eingestell-
ten Geräte am IDE-Kabel, da es andernfalls zu Problemen kommen kann.
Entsorgung
Entsorgen Sie das Produkt am Ende seiner Lebensdauer gemäß den geltenden
gesetzlichen Vorschriften.

The product is intended for connection to a SATA Slimline CD/DVD drive, and to enable thereby
the connection of a SATA CD/DVD drive to a 44-pole IDE connection on a notebook (grid dimen-
sion 2mm).

Setting the Operating Modes "Master", "Slave" or "Cable Select"
There are three jumpers (J3) on the adapter, which are labelled with "C", "S" and "M":
M"Master"
S "Slave"
C "Cable Select"
Select the settings for "Master" (M), "Slave" (S) or "Cable Select" (C) using the jumpers. There
must be only one "Master" device and one "Slave" device on each IDE cable.
Installation and Connection
• The adapter is only suitable for a SATA Slimline CD/DVD drive.
• Attach the adapter to the CD/DVD drive connections and screw the circuit board firmly to the
CD/DVD drive using the two screws provided. Do not use any force when tightening the
screws.
• Connect the 44-pole IDE cable, paying attention to the correct orientation. Pin 1 is marked with
a small triangle and it is located on the circuit board's edge on the side of the jumpers J3. Pin
1 of the IDE cable is marked in colour.
There must be only one "Master" device and one "Slave" device on each IDE cable. Where
only one IDE device is connected to an IDE cable, the device must be set as "Master" and be
connected to the end of the cable.
Where, in addition, an IDE hard disc is connected to the same cable, the hard disc must be set
to "Master" and the jumper on the adapter to "Slave" ("S").
• The power for the drive is supplied directly via the 44-pole IDE cable.
Tips and Notes
• The delivery does not include any drivers, since these are an integrated part of the operating
system.
The SATA drive is recognised by the computer in the same way as a conventional IDE drive
and is integrated into the operating system.
• Make sure you perform the jumper settings for "Master", "Slave" and "Cable Select" correctly,
otherwise one or both devices on the IDE cable may not be recognised. Further, pay attention
that devices set to "Master" and "Slave" respectively are correctly attached to the IDE cable,
otherwise you might experience problems.

The "Cable Select" set up may only be used with suitable devices, cables and mother-
boards. Consult the operating instructions for your motherboard. As a rule, special IDE
cables must be used for this purpose.
We recommend that only the "Master" or "Slave" settings be used.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statu-
tory regulations.
