1. Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt ist zum Einbau in einen PC vorgesehen und dient dazu, ein IDE-Gerät (z.B. IDE-Festplatte, IDE-
CD-/DVD-ROM usw.) an eine SATA-Schnittstelle anzuschließen oder ein SATA-Gerät an eine IDE-Schnittstelle.
Dieses Produkt ist kompatibel mit der Spezifikation SATA 1.0a und unterstützt die erste SATA- Generation. Das
Produkt ist kompatibel mit der ATA-Spezifikation und Ultra-ATA 133.
Aus Sicherheits- und Zulassungsgründen (CE) ist das eigenmächtige Umbauen und/oder Verändern des
Produktes nicht gestattet. Eine andere Verwendung als oben beschrieben ist nicht erlaubt und kann zur
Beschädigung des Produkts führen. Darüber hinaus ist dies mit Gefahren, wie z. B. Kurzschluss, Brand,
Stromschlag usw. verbunden. Lesen Sie die Bedienungsanleitung genau durch und bewahren Sie diese für
späteres Nachschlagen auf.

6. Einbau
Falls Sie keine Fachkenntnisse für den Einbau besitzen, so lassen Sie den Einbau von
einer FACHKRAFT oder einer entsprechenden Fachwerkstatt durchführen!

Durch unsachgemäßen Einbau werden sowohl das Produkt, als auch Ihr Computer und
alle angeschlossenen Geräte beschädigt.
Vorsicht, Lebensgefahr!
Schalten Sie den Computer, in den das Produkt eingebaut werden soll und alle
angeschlossenen Geräte aus und trennen Sie alle Geräte von der Netzspannung, ziehen
Sie den Netzstecker! Das Ausschalten über den Ein-/Ausschalter genügt nicht!
IDE-Gerät an SATA-Schnittstelle anschließen
1. Öffnen Sie das Gehäuse Ihres Computers und nehmen Sie den Gehäusedeckel vorsichtig ab.
2. Verbinden Sie den 40-poligen IDE-Anschluss des Konverters mit einem IDE-Gerät.
3. Verbinden Sie den gelben SATA-Anschluss des Konverters über das SATA-Kabel mit dem SATA-Anschluss
auf Ihrem Mainboard.
4. Verbinden Sie den Konverter über das Stromkabel mit dem Netzteil des Computers.
5. Sichern Sie die Kabel gegebenenfalls mit Kabelbindern (nicht im Lieferumfang enthalten).
6. Verschließen Sie das Gehäuse Ihres Computers.
7. Verbinden Sie Ihren Computer und Monitor mit der Netzspannung und schalten Sie alle Geräte ein.
8. Startet Ihr Computer nicht korrekt, so schalten Sie Ihn sofort wieder aus und kontrollieren Sie sämtliche
Einstellungen und Kabelverbindungen.
SATA-Gerät an IDE-Schnittstelle anschließen
1. Öffnen Sie das Gehäuse Ihres Computers und nehmen Sie den Gehäusedeckel vorsichtig ab.
2. Wählen Sie einen der Modi „Master / Slave / Cable Select" durch die zwei Schalter unterhalb des gelben
SATA-Anschlusses.

Wählen Sie die korrekte Einstellung für „Master / Slave / Cable Select". Im Regelfall sollten Sie
zwischen „Master" und „Slave" wählen. Der Modus „Cable Select" ist nur bei bestimmten IDE-
Controllern oder Mainboards zulässig.
3. Verbinden Sie den 40-poligen IDE-Anschluss des Konverters mit einem IDE-Anschluss des Mainboards.
4. Verbinden Sie den schwarzen SATA-Anschluss des Konverters über das SATA-Kabel mit dem Anschluss
Ihres SATA-Gerätes.
5. Verbinden Sie den Konverter über das Stromkabel mit dem Netzteil des Computers.
6. Sichern Sie die Kabel gegebenenfalls mit Kabelbindern (nicht im Lieferumfang enthalten).
7. Verschließen Sie das Gehäuse Ihres Computers.
8. Verbinden Sie Ihren Computer und Monitor mit der Netzspannung und schalten Sie alle Geräte ein.
9. Startet Ihr Computer nicht korrekt, so schalten Sie Ihn sofort wieder aus und kontrollieren Sie sämtliche
Einstellungen und Kabelverbindungen.
• Die rote LED des Konverters zeigt dessen Betriebsbereitschaft an. Die gelbe LED signalisiert,
dass Lese- und Schreibvorgänge des Gerätes, das an den Konverter angeschlossen ist,
stattfinden.
• Schaubilder zum Anschluss aller Kabel und Komponenten finden Sie in der beiliegenden
Herstelleranleitung.
7. Tipps und Hinweise
• Bevor Sie eine neue Festplatte an den Konverter anschließen, formatieren und partionieren Sie diese.
• Über den Konverter können CD-/DVD-ROM-Laufwerke betrieben werden. Informieren Sie sich in der
Anleitung Ihres SATA-Controllers, ob diese Funktion unterstützt wird. Einige SATA-Controller lassen nur
den Betrieb von IDE-Festplatten, jedoch nicht von IDE-Laufwerken, zu.
• Achten Sie darauf, dass sowohl der Konverter, als auch das IDE- bzw. SATA-Gerät an das Netzteil des
Computers angeschlossen sind.
• Kontrollieren Sie im BIOS/SETUP, ob das an den Konverter angeschlossene IDE- bzw. SATA-Gerät vom
Betriebssystem richtig erkannt wird.
• Verwenden Sie für große Festplatten (> 137 GB) ein geeignetes Betriebssystem (z.B Windows XP Service
Pack 2 oder Windows Vista™. Windows 9x/ME ist normalerweise nicht in der Lage, mit großen Festplatten
umzugehen. Auch die Partionierung der Festplatte hilft in diesem Fall nicht weiter.
8. Entsorgung
Im Interesse unserer Umwelt und um die verwendeten Rohstoffe möglichst vollständig zu
recyclen, ist der Verbraucher aufgefordert, gebrauchte und defekte Geräte zu den öffentlichen
Sammelstellen für Elektroschrott zu bringen.
Das Zeichen der durchgestrichenen Mülltonne mit Rädern bedeutet, dass dieses Produkt an einer
Sammelstelle für Elektronikschrott abgegeben werden muss.

1. Intended use
The product is intended for installation in a PC and is for connecting an IDE device (e.g., IDE hard drive, IDE-
CD/DVD-ROM, etc.) to a SATA interface or an SATA device to an IDE interface. This product is compatible with
the SATA 1.0a specification and supports the first SATA generation. The product is compatible with the ATA
specification and Ultra-ATA 133.
Unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the device are inadmissible because of safety and approval
reasons (CE). Any usage other than described above is not permitted and can damage the product and lead to
associated risks such as short-circuit, fire, electric shock, etc. Please read the operating instructions thoroughly
and keep them for further reference.

6. Installation
When in doubt about how to install the device correctly, please contact an EXPERT or a
specialist workshop and let them carry out the installation.
In case of improper installation, the product as well as your computer and all connected
devices will be damaged.

Lethal Danger!
Switch off the computer in which the product is to be installed and all connected devices
and separate all devices from the mains voltage. Unplug the mains plug! To switch the

device off via the ON/OFF switch is not enough!
Connecting the IDE device to the SATA interface
1. Open the housing of your computer and carefully take off the housing cover.
2. Connect the 40-pole IDE terminal of the converter to an IDE device.
3. Connect the yellow SATA terminal of the converter to the SATA terminal on your mainboard via the SATA
cable.
4. Connect the converter to the power supply unit of the computer via the power cable.
5. Secure the cables with cable ties, if applicable (not included).
6. Close the computer case.
7. Connect your computer and monitor with the mains voltage und switch on all devices.
8. If your computer does not start correctly, switch it off immediately and check all settings and cable
connections.
Connecting the SATA device to the IDE interface
1. Open the housing of your computer and carefully take off the housing cover.
2. Choose one of the "master / slave / cable select" modes by means of the two switches below the yellow
SATA connection.

Choose the correct setting for "master / slave / cable select." As a rule, you should choose either
"master" or "slave." The "cable select" mode is permissible only with certain IDE controllers or
mainboards.
3. Connect the 40-pole IDE terminal of the converter to an IDE device of the mainboard.
4. Connect the black SATA terminal of the converter to the terminal of your SATA device via the SATA cable.
5. Connect the converter to the power supply unit of the computer via the power cable.
6. Secure the cables with cable ties, if applicable (not included).
7. Close the computer case.
8. Connect your computer and monitor with the mains voltage und switch on all devices.
9. If your computer does not start correctly, switch it off immediately and check all settings and cable
connections.
• The red LED of the converter indicates its readiness for operation. The yellow LED signals that
read and write operations of the device that is connected to the converter are taking place.
• You can find diagrams for connecting all cables and components in the manufacturer's
instructions included.
7. Tips and notes
• Before connecting a new hard drive to the converter, format and partition it.
• CD-/DVD-ROM drives can be operated via the converter. In the instructions for your SATA controller, find
out whether this function is supported. Some SATA controllers only allow operation of IDE hard drives, but
not of IDE drives.
• Make sure that both the converter and also the IDE or SATA device is connected to the power supply unit
of the computer.
• Check in the BIOS/SETUP whether the IDE or SATA device connected to the converter is correctly identified
by the operating system.
• For large hard drives (> 137 GB), use a suitable operating system (e.g., Windows XP Service Pack 2 or
Windows Vista™. Windows 9x/ME is normally not able to handle large hard drives. Even partitioning the
hard drive is of no help in this case.
8. Disposal
In order to preserve, protect and improve the quality of environment, protect human health and
utilise natural resources prudently and rationally, the user should return unserviceable product to
relevant facilities in accordance with statutory regulations.
The crossed-out wheeled bin indicates the product needs to be disposed separately and not as
municipal waste.
