ADJUSTING THE FINDER SCOPE

As the telescope has only a limit field of view, finding a sought star or planet can be quite diffi-
cult. For this reasons, the telescope is equipped with finder scope (F), which has a cross hair for
orientation. It is recommended to carry out the following adjustments in daylight:
1. Insert the eyepiece (D) with the lowest magnification into den deflection mirror (C).
2. S earch for a non-moving, easily recognisable object at a distance of not more than 300 m.
Orientate the telescope with the horizontal axis and then move the vertical axis, until the
object is situated in the middle of the field of view. Sharpen the image. Now, tighten the
locking screw on the telescope fork, so that the telescope remains in this position (the higher
the object is above the horizon, the easier the adjusting will be).
3. N ow also look through the finder scope. If the object seen through the telescope is not visible,
loosen the setting screws and move the finder scope back and forth, until the object appears.
Tighten the setting screws again slightly and keep the object in the middle of the finder
scope. In order to simply this process, use the setting screws, in order to keep the object in
the middle of the field of view. The finder scope will move in the direction in which the screw
is turned in. When the setting of the finder scope corresponds to that of the eyepiece, finally
tighten all of the setting screws on the finder scope.

SETTING THE SHARPNESS

Although setting the sharpness appears to be easy, practice has shown that it is quite laborious,
until you have become accustomed to it. Set a distant object sharply in daylight and practise this
procedure, in order to train your skill.
1. A djust the sharpness setting by moving the tube drive for setting sharpness (B) forwards and
backwards. For this rotate the wheel for setting sharpness (A).
2. A s the stars are constantly moving, practise the sharpness setting on neon advertising or
a lamp, which is more than 1000 m away. When the image is roughly set, adjust the image
sharpness by moving the tube drive for sharpness setting (B) forwards and backwards, until
the image is sharp. The direct the telescope toward the star, without changing the sharpness
Setting. Normally the sharpness setting is now also correct here.
