Improper mounting, installation, commissioning, maintenance or cleaning
Basic work such as installation, commissioning, maintenance or cleaning of the device must
be performed only in accordance with the valid national regulations of the country of use and
only by qualified persons. Otherwise the explosion protection can be rendered ineffective.
This may result in explosions causing serious or even fatal injuries to persons in the vicinity.
 Have the mounting, installation, commissioning and maintenance work performed by
qualified and authorised persons only (see Chapter 3.2).
 Prior to commissioning, check the mounting for correctness (see Chapter 7).
 When used in Zone 22, the device is to be installed in a protective enclosure or in a cabinet
according to IEC/EN 60079-31. This enclosure (or cabinet) has a suitable degree of
protection (at least IP64).
 When used in Zone 2, the device is to be installed in a protective enclosure or in a cabinet
according to IEC/EN 60079-0. This enclosure (or cabinet) has a suitable degree of
protection (at least IP54).
 The device may only be operated in environments not exceeding degree of pollution 2.
 When operated together with Ex i electrical circuits in Zone 2, protect the non-intrinsically
safe terminals with a covering that fulfils the the IP30 degree of protection.
If the covering is missing: Open the enclosure only in a de-energised state.
 Electrical circuits with the "Ex i" type of protection may no longer be operated as electrical
circuits with this type of protection after being operated with electrical circuits with other
types of protection.
 When used in Zones 2 and 22, the intrinsically safe devices of Zones 1, 0, 21 and 20 can
be connected to the intrinsically safe signal circuits.
 Only connect the device to equipment which does not carry voltages higher than
253 V AC (50 Hz).
 Connect the device only to intrinsically safe terminals.
 In hazardous areas, operate the DIP switch of the device only in a de-energised state.
 In hazardous areas, always switch the electrical circuits to a de-energised state before
disconnecting or connecting and when mounting/dismounting devices on the pac-Bus.
 The device is usable up to SIL 2 (for this, observe the FMEDA Report).
 Do not change or modify the device.
 Gently clean the device with a damp cloth only and without scratching, abrasive or
aggressive cleaning agents or solutions.

Transport and Storage

 Transport and store the device carefully and in accordance with the safety notes
(see Chapter "Safety").
