3.2
Mounting
Bench model
3.2.1
Planopol-2 is detached from the bottom
of the packing case by removing the four
screws from below, after which PIano-
pol-2 can be placed on the bench.
3.2.2
Built-in model
The built-in model may be mounted in a
working bench of suitable height (about
850-900 mm) with a width under the
bench of mm. 678 mm (see fig. 5) and a
solid bench top 20-30 mm thick.
A number of machines may be placed so
close to each other that their spill pans
meet. But for convenience of operation a
somewhat wider spacing is recommend-
ed.
Make a cut-out in the bench top and drill
4 holes according to fig. 5, observing the
minimum distances to the front and rear
edges of the bench.

Adjust the positioning in the fittings in
such a way that a polishing disc placed
on the turntable with be parallel to the
bench top at a height of 2 mm above it.
Dismantle the turntable (fig. 12.52) by
removing the 3 screws. Mount the speed
selector according to fig. 6 and fit the
water cock. Stick the spill pan to the
bench top with contact cement, careful-
ly centering its holes with the compon-
ents of the machine. Finally, mount the
turntable and the bottom guard.
Connection to power
3.3
Mount a plug on the electric
necting the leads as follows:
3-phase machine:
Yellow/green lead to earth
Brown lead to phase
Black lead to phase
Black lead to phase
The turntable should rotate anti-clock-
wise. If this is not the case after the
connection, change the direction by
changing over two of the phase leads.
Single-phse machine:
Yellow/green lead to earth
Brown lead to phase
Blue lead to neutral
Connection to water
3.4
Connect the thin reinforced hose to a
water outlet and fit the 13 mm hose clip.
The accompanying hose
packing and union nut may, where not
already provided, be mounted on the
water outlet (1/2" pipe thread, BS 2779:
G 1/2).
If a recirculating cooling unit is used,
connect the hose to the discharge branch
of the pump and fit a hose clip.
Lead the thick hose to the drain and be
very careful to plce it with a steady
downward slope to prevent the water
from being discharged too slowly which
may cause overflow or blocking of the
water outlet. In order to avoid elbows on
the tubing, the enclosed elbow pipe can
be mounted on the tubing in an appro-
priate place.
