In case of 4-wire operation, the following restrictions apply:
• Only for connecting a maximum of 4 galvanically separated, unearthed and

• For use of earthed field circuits and/or HART communication, a device of the 9164 type
is required for each 2-wire channel.

• Transport and store the device only in the original packaging.

• Store the device in a dry place (no condensation) and vibration-free.

• Do not drop the device.

The device is approved for use in gas explosion hazardous areas of Zones 1 and 2 and
dust explosion hazardous area of Zones 21 and 22 and in safe areas.

The channels do not share a common earth connection.
Mixed operation of 2-wire / 3-wire / 4-wire is permissible. For 3-wire and
4-wire operation, the following channel in each case (1, 3, 5, 7) must be used
for the common connection.
Optionally, non-used channels can be wired to resistors for suppressing line
fault indications (simple electrical equipment in acc. with EN 60079-14).
The resistors are available as accessories.
If the installation has strong electromagnetic sources of interference or
the electric lines are more than 30 m long, use of shielded field cables is
recommended to achieve the specified data. To this end, the shield must be
connected to the equipotential bonding of the hazardous area and connected
to the shield busses in the enclosure as close to the entry point as possible!
The shield busses must also be connected to the mounting plate close to the
entry point of the field wiring using the shortest possible route!
