• The pump can be switched on by simply plugging it in.
• The water temperature should not exceed 35°C (95°F). Do
not let the pump freeze in the winter.
Non-submersible usage:
The pump can be used in a non-submerged application.
• Position the pump lower than the water surface on the
side of the pond so that the water can be drained to the
pump (because it is not self-priming).
• Remove the pre-filter cover (A) and connect suction hose
and pressure hose from the pump. The connection
should be water-tight.
• Fill the suction hose and pump with water before turn-
ing it on.
• To prevent the pump from becoming clogged, provide
the suction hose with an adequate suction filter.
• Depending on pump performance and counter-pressure,
leaking is possible when placing the pump outside the
water. Greasing the O-ring (G) and the plate-shaped plas-
tic ring of the impeller unit (C) on both sides will reduce
this leaking.
Overload protection:
The pump has a built-in thermal overload trip which pre-
vents the pump from overheating. The pump must be allow-
ed to cool down before restarting. After cooling, the pump
will not start again automatically without proper conditions.
As soon as the problems have been solved, simply start the
pump by unplugging it and putting the plug back in again.
To maintain or change the impeller unit:
Damaged impeller units can be detected by a vibration or
noise during operation or by a decrease in pump perform-
ance by an otherwise clean pump.
When this happens, the pump must be disconnected
immediately to avoid subsequent damage to the motor.
Disassemble the pump in this sequence: Remove the com-
bined pre-filter cover and pre-filter sponge (A). Look into
the motor unit and remove any leaves or coarse particles,
which could be clogging the intake or outlet. Remove the
pump chamber cover (B) by turning it clockwise. Now
remove the impeller unit (C) and clean, decalcify or replace
it as necessary. [Fragile! Handle with care]
Check the ceramic bearing in the back for signs of wear or
damage. A defective bearing will destroy the impeller unit
within a short time. [Replacement bearings available by the
manufacturer only.]
Put the new or cleaned impeller unit (C) into position (1.),
while turning (2.) the plate-shaped plastic ring until it snaps
into place. To make placement of the greased O-ring (G) sim-
pler, after affixing the plate-shaped ring, put the O-ring onto
the back ring and let it slide down into the formed gap (3.).
We recommend lightly greasing the seal before replacing
the pump chamber cover (4., B). Vaseline is best for greas-
ing, although a small drop of salad oil will also work.

Important: Please follow this sequence (1. – 4.) by all means
when re-assembling the PP pump.
Care of your pump during the winter:
Protect the sera pond pump PP from freezing! Remove the
pump from your pond in autumn. Clean and dry the pump
completely (including the impeller unit) and lightly grease
all metal parts.
Important: To ensure optimal performance and life span,
when not in use for long periods of time, clean the pump
and store in a dry place. (If you have used a material other
than Vaseline for greasing you must carefully remove it
before using the pump again.)
Disposal of the unit:
Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) must
not get into domestic waste!
If ever the unit cannot be used anymore, the consumer is
legally obliged to hand in waste electrical and electronic
equipment (WEEE) separately from domestic waste, e.g. at
a collection point of his community/his district. This en-
sures that waste electrical and electronic equipment
(WEEE) is expertly processed and that negative effects to
the environment are avoided.

Warranty:
When following the directions for use, the sera pond pump
PP will perform reliably. The warranty is valid for 24 months
from the date of purchase. Please note that the sales slip
will function as a warranty voucher! The warranty is limit-
ed to the unit only. Wearing parts are excluded from war-
ranty. Please note the additional warranty information (*).
Liability is limited to the purchase value of the unit only.
Any damages as a result of improper treatment and conse-
quences thereof are excluded from the warranty.
In case of malfunction please contact your retailer.
Important warranty addendum (*):
• Impeller units that are worn, broken or stuck due to lime
deposits are a direct consequence of insufficient mainte-
nance. These and all subsequent damages are not cov-
ered by the warranty. Often, these damages can not be
repaired.
• Broken rotor wings are caused by gravel or other larger,
hard particles that have been sucked into the unit. These
damages are not covered by warranty. Please always use
the pre-filter cover supplied with the kit.
• Damage to the power/mains cord (e.g., by rodent bites,
ice, garden tools), will not be repaired by the manufac-
turer due to safety reasons. (Reason: Moisture that has
gotten into the cable often leads to corrosion and short-
circuits in the motor later on.) Replacing the complete
cable is not possible. The pump must be discarded.
