T o install t h e sa w c h ain, per f orm t h e f ollo w ing steps :
1.
Make sure t h e d ire c tion o f t h e c h ain. T h e arro w
mark on t h e c h ain s h o w s t h e d ire c tion o f t h e c h ain.
2.
F it in one en d o f t h e sa w c h ain on t h e top o f t h e
gui d e bar an d t h e ot h er en d aroun d t h e spro c ket.

T ig h ten t h e retaining nuts to se c ure t h e spro c ket
cover, then loosen it a bit for tension adjustment.

Adjusting saw chain tension
CAUTION:
Carry out the procedure of install-
ing or removing saw chain in a clean place free
from sawdust and the like.
CAUTION:
Do not tighten the saw chain too
much. E x c essi v el y h ig h tension o f sa w c h ain ma y
c ause breakage o f sa w c h ain, w ear o f t h e gui d e bar
and breakage of the adjusting dial.
CAUTION:
A chain which is too loose can
jump off the bar and it may cause an injury
accident.

o f use. F rom time to time c h e c k t h e sa w c h ain tension
be f ore use.

L oosen t h e retaining nuts a bit to loosen t h e
spro c ket c o v er lig h tl y .

Lift up the guide bar tip slightly and adjust the
chain tension. Turn the chain adjusting screw clockwise
to tig h ten, turn it c ounter c lo c k w ise to loosen.

chain fits in the guide bar rail as illustrated.

retaining nuts to se c ure t h e spro c ket c o v er.

Make sure t h at t h e sa w c h ain d oes not loose at t h e
lower side and the saw chain fits snugly against the
lo w er si d e o f t h e bar.
OPERATION
Lubrication
S a w c h ain is automati c all y lubri c ate d w h en t h e tool is in
operation. C h e c k t h e amount o f remaining oil in t h e oil
tank perio d i c all y .
To refill the tank, lay the chain saw on its side and
remo v e t h e oil tank c ap. T h e proper amount o f oil is 200
ml. After refilling the tank, make sure that the oil tank
c ap is tig h tene d se c urel y .

After refilling, hold the chain saw away from the
tree. S tart it an d w ait until lubri c ation on sa w c h ain is
a d e q uate.

NOTICE:
When lling the chain oil for the rst
time, or re lling the tank after it has been com-
pletely emptied, add oil up to the bottom edge of
the ller neck. The oil delivery may otherwise be
impaired.
NOTICE:
Use the saw chain oil exclusively for
Makita chain saws or equivalent oil available in
the market.
NOTICE:
Never use oil including dust and parti-
cles or volatile oil.
NOTICE:
W hen pruning trees, use botanical oil.
Mineral oil may harm trees.
NOTICE:
Before the cutting operation, make sure
that the provided oil tank cap is screwed in place.
W ORKING W ITH THE CHAIN SAW
CAUTION:
The rst time user should, as a
minimum practice, do cutting logs on a saw-horse
or cradle.
CAUTION:
W hen sawing precut timber, use a
safe support (saw horse or cradle). Do not steady
the workpiece with your foot, and do not allow
anyone else to hold or steady it.
CAUTION:
Secure round pieces against
rotation.
CAUTION:
Keep all parts of the body away
from the saw chain when the motor is operating.
CAUTION:
Hold the chain saw rmly with
both hands when the motor is running.
CAUTION:
Do not overreach. Keep proper
footing and balance at all times.
NOTICE:
Never toss or drop the tool.
NOTICE:
Do not cover the vents of the tool.
