SAFETY W ARNINGS
General pow er tool safety w arnings
WARNING:
Read all safety w arnings, instruc-
tions, illustrations and specifications provided with this

tions for future reference.

Polisher safety w arnings

1 .
This po w er tool is intended to function as a pol-
isher. Read all safety w arnings, instructions, illus-
trations and specifications provided with this power
tool. F ailure to f ollo w all instru c tions liste d belo w ma y
result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Operations such as grinding, w ire brushing

or cutting-off are not recommended to be
performed w ith this po w er tool. O perations f or
w h i c h t h e po w er tool w as not d esigne d ma y c reate
a hazard and cause personal injury.

Do not use accessories which are not specifically
designed and recommended by the tool manufac-
turer. Just bec ause th e ac c essory c an be attac h ed to
y our pow er tool, it d oes not assure saf e operation.

The rated speed of the accessory must be at
least equal to the maximum speed marked on
the po w er tool. A c c essories running f aster t h an
their rated speed can break and fly apart.
5 .
Threaded mounting of accessories must match
the spindle thread. For accessories mounted
by anges, the arbour hole of the accessory
must fit the locating diameter of the ange.
A c c essories th at d o not matc h th e mounting
h ard w are of th e pow er tool w ill run out of balanc e,
v ibrate ex c essiv ely and may c ause loss of c ontrol.

Do not use a damaged accessory. Before each
use inspect the accessory such as backing pad
for cracks, tear or excess w ear. If pow er tool or
accessory is dropped, inspect for damage or
install an undamaged accessory. After inspecting
and installing an accessory, position yourself and
bystanders aw ay from the plane of the rotating
accessory and run the pow er tool at maximum
no-load speed for one minute. D amaged ac c esso-
ries w ill normally break apart d uring th is test time.

W ear personal protective equipment.
Depending on application, use face shield,
safety goggles or safety glasses. As appropri-
ate, w ear dust mask, hearing protectors, gloves
and w orkshop apron capable of stopping small
abrasive or w orkpiece fragments. T h e e y e pro-
tection must be capable of stopping flying debris
generate d b y v arious operations. T h e d ust mask
or respirator must be capable of filtrating particles
generate d b y y our operation. P rolonge d e x posure
to h ig h intensit y noise ma y c ause h earing loss.

Keep bystanders a safe distance aw ay from w ork
area. Anyone entering the w ork area must w ear
personal protective equipment. F ragments of
workpiece or of a broken accessory may fly away and
cause injury beyond immediate area of operation.
9 .
Position the cord clear of the spinning acces-
sory. I f y ou lose c ontrol, t h e c or d ma y be c ut or
snagge d an d y our h an d or arm ma y be pulle d into
t h e spinning a c c essor y .
1 0. Never lay the po w er tool do w n until the acces-
sory has come to a complete stop. T h e spinning
a c c essor y ma y grab t h e sur f a c e an d pull t h e
po w er tool out o f y our c ontrol.

Do not run the po w er tool w hile carrying it at

Kickback and Related W arnings

sor y . P in c h ing or snagging c auses rapi d stalling o f t h e
rotating a c c essor y w h i c h in turn c auses t h e un c on-
trolle d po w er tool to be f or c e d in t h e d ire c tion opposite
o f t h e a c c essor y ' s rotation at t h e point o f t h e bin d ing.
F or e x ample, i f an abrasi v e w h eel is snagge d or
pin c h e d b y t h e w orkpie c e, t h e e d ge o f t h e w h eel t h at is
entering into t h e pin c h point c an d ig into t h e sur f a c e o f
t h e material c ausing t h e w h eel to c limb out or ki c k out.
The wheel may either jump toward or away from the
operator, d epen d ing on d ire c tion o f t h e w h eel ' s mo v e-
ment at t h e point o f pin c h ing. A brasi v e w h eels ma y also
break un d er t h ese c on d itions.
Ki c kba c k is t h e result o f po w er tool misuse an d / or
in c orre c t operating pro c e d ures or c on d itions an d c an be
a v oi d e d b y taking proper pre c autions as gi v en belo w .

Maintain a firm grip on the power tool and
position your body and arm to allo w you to
resist kickback forces. Al w ays use auxiliary
handle, if provided, for maximum control over
kickback or torque reaction during start-up.
