5. Il you are using two external drive s. insert an adapter board into the
connector in the middle of the first disk drive's cable.
6. Connect the end of the second external drive's cable into the
adapter board of the first external drive's cable. Ali bulthe las! disk
drive (il you are using more l han o ne drive) should h ave lheirtermi-
nation packs removed. The drive farthesl from the conlroller
should be the one that is no t modified. Note: Il may be necessary
to rotate the adapter board in order lo insert il. Il goes in easily il you
have il positioned correctly.

The internai drive in the Peripheral Expansion Syslem is considered
DSK 1. The first exlernal drive, the o ne connected directly to the Con-
troller Card, is DSK2. The third disk drive (farthest l rom the Controller)
is DSK3. The labels provi d ed with your drive(s) ca n be used to identify
each drive.
CONNECTING THE CONTROLLER CARD TO EXTERNAL DISK
DRIVES
1. Turn
oH the computer console and ali attached devices.
2. WARNING: TO AVOlO DAMAGING ACCESSORY CARDS, W AlT
TWO (2) MINUTES AFTER TURNING OFF THE UNIT FOR THE
POWER TO DISCHARGE BEFORE PROCEEOING.
3. Remove the top from !h e peripheral system unii by depressing the
latches on the back edge of the top and pulling up.
4. The label identifying the Controller Card is on the top of the card.
On lhe front of the card is an indicator lighl. Hold the Disk Drive
Controller Card so that the indicator light laces the front of the
peripheral system unii an d the connector tab laces the bach of t h e
unii.

5. Carefully align the card with the desired slot so t hai the connector
tab laces the back of the peripheral system; firmly press the card
down into the slott until connection has been made.
6. Re piace the top o n the peripheral system by sliding the front edge
under l h e extension on the front of the unii. Firmly press down on
the back edge ol the top. Do noi run the system wilhout the top in
piace; the top ensures properventilation. Note: Il the top do es not
fit properly. remove the card and realign it in the slot, pressing
down firmly until the connection is made.
7. Each external drive has an altached cable with two connectors,
one at the end or the cable and one near the middle of the cable.
Attach the end of the cab le o n the disk drive to the connector lab
on the Controllar Card.
8. Il you are using more than one external drive, insert an adapter
board into the middle connector of the first and second disk
drive's cable. Note: Il may be necessary to rotate the adapter
board in order lo insert il. lt goes in easily il you have il positioned
correctly.
