Operating modes

The IO-Link master V1.1 can be operated in IOL as well as in SIO mode.
4.3

Functional principle

IO-Link devices are easily put into operation with the IO-Link master V1.1. Parametrizing IO-Link devices, reading
of process data (PD) and reading/writing of specified service data (SD) is possible, independently from the higher-
level control.
Pin 4 of the IO-Link master can be operated either in the IO-Link mode (IOL) or in the standard IO mode (SIO), de-
pending on the parametrization. The following transmission rates are possible 4.8 kbps (COM1), 38.4 kbps (COM2)
and 230.4 kbps (COM3).
Easily connected to PC USB port. The necessary software package for the commissioning, consisting of driver and
DTM, is ready for download under www.turck.com.
The IO-Link device is connected to the M12 x 1 port and powered via the USB port. In the event of increased cur-
rent consumption (> 80 mA), use the external plug-in power supply.

Accessories

The USB IO-Link master V1.1 comes with the following accessories:
USB cable (USB-A on mini USB-B)
Plug-in power supply
Mains adapter
5

installation

Make sure that the device is on a level surface. Pay attention to a dry surface.
6

connection

ATTENTiON!
If the IO-Link device requires more than 80 mA (also starting current), the plug-in power supply must be
used! Note that some PCs are particularly sensitive in particular to starting currents.
Possible damage to the master PC!
In case of doubt, use the plug-in power supply (IN-DC connection).
Connect the IO-Link master via the delivered USB cable to the USB port on your PC.
Connect the IO-Link device via the optional sensor cable to the IO-Link master.
