When you cannot copy or reformat

Occasionally, the drive may not allow you to copy to a disc or reformat it. The following describes
possible causes and solutions for when this occurs.
The tab on the cartridge is set to write-protect.
Software has been used to write-protect the
non-cartridge disc.
You are using a disc that cannot be used for
writing.
Drive has used most of the disc's spare sec-
tors for defect management. This symptom
typically occurs when the drive lens or disc
are dusty. In this condition, the inserted disc
will be write-protected.
(When this problem occurs, the green opera-
tion lamp on the front of the drive will blink 3
times per second.)

Using other discs

Select the software to suit the disc and purpose. Refer also to page 24.
CD-R/DVD-R discs
Use B's Recorder GOLD5 BASIC (see page 83) and MyDVD
DVDs and music CDs, or to write DVD-Video data.
CD-RW/DVD-RW discs
After formatting CD-RW/DVD-RW discs using the format function in B's CLiP5 (see page 98), you can
write data in files to the discs. You can also use B's Recorder GOLD5 BASIC (see page 83) and
MyDVD
4 (see page 114) to write data and music to disc.
DVD-Video Playback
Use WinDVD     4 (see page 122) to play DVD-Video. To play, the region number of the DVD-Video
must match that of this drive. The drive region number is set to "1" (LF-M621U) or "2" (LF-M621E) in
the factory. If a confirmation screen is displayed when you play a DVD-Video with a mismatched region
number, follow the instructions. You can change the region number four times.
