Handling non-cartridge type DVD-RAM discs, DVD-R (for General), DVD-RW (4.7 GB Ver.1.1),
CD-R and CD-RW discs
Do not place in the following locations
Dirty or dusty locations
Hot or humid locations or where they will be exposed to direct sunlight
Locations susceptible to significant differences in temperature (condensation can occur)
Handling notes (The notes marked
When removing a disc from its case,
press on the center part and lift the disc
free.
When returning the disc to its case, face
the label up and press the disc into place.
Hold discs by the center hole and outer
edge.
Do not touch the side used for writing
data.
Fingerprints, dirt, dust and scratches on the recording surface of discs can affect the reading and
writing of data.
Write on the label side of the disc only with a soft, oil-based felt pen. Do not use ballpoint pens or
other hard writing implements.
Do not attach additional labels or stickers.
If a disc becomes dusty, obtain the DVD-RAM/PD disc cleaner to clean it (part number LF-
K200DCA1).
Do not use benzene, paint thinners or other solvents.
To protect discs from dust and scratches, return them to their cases or cartridges when you are
not using them.
Do not drop, stack or impact discs. Do not place objects on discs. Operational characteristics
can be degraded if undue pressure is applied to discs.
Use the write-protect setting to protect your data. This setting is made with the utilities found on
the included CD-ROM.
You cannot write on 2.6 GB DVD-RAM discs (LM-DB26) removed from TYPE2 cartridges. To
write on them, return to their cartridges.
Insert non-cartridge discs the same as you would insert CDs or DVD-ROM discs.
