Conformity with standards

The apparatus is conform to the standards
specified in the Declaration of conformity,
enclosed separately.
References to standards and directives in these
operating instructions always relate to the latest
version. Other additions (e.g. details relating to
the year) shall be observed.
4

Field of application

The maintenance sockets are suitable for use
in Zones 1, 2 and 21, 22 in accordance with
IEC/EN 60079-10-1 and IEC/EN 60079-10-2.
The enclosure materials used, including the
exterior metal parts, are high-quality materials
which ensure a corrosion protection and
resistance to chemical substances correspond-
ing to the requirements in a "normal industrial
atmosphere":
- impact resistant polyamide
- glass-fibre reinforced polyester
- special steel AISI 316 L
When used in an extremely aggressive
atmosphere, the additional data on the
resistance against chemicals of the plastics
being used will have to be inquired at your
CCH agency.

Use / Properties
The maintenance sockets are suitable after a
hot work permit has being issued, for repair,
maintenance and installation work in hazardous
areas.
The maintenance sockets are fitted with a load
switch and can be used up to max. 16 A; 3 2A;
63 A; 125 A (see technical data).
The plugs and sockets can generally be used
for the voltage range laid down in EN 60309
(e.g. UN 400 V that corresponds to the voltage
range 380-415 V).
The apparatus connected to the plug shall
be suitable for the mains voltage being.
In order to switch on the socket 16- and 32 A,
the plug is inserted. Fully and then turned
through approx. 45° to the right, thereby the
plug is locked in the socket (see fig. 1, page 16).
In order to switch on the insert socket (63 A
and 125 A) the plug fully. The interlocking switch
can then be switched on with the handle, fig. 1,
item 1, page 16, thereby the plug is locked in
the socket.
To switch off and withdraw the plug, proceed
in the inverse order.
After separating the plug from the socket, the
latter shall be closed with the hinged cover and
secured with the bayonet ring.
The maintenance sockets shall be secured
on the hinged cover (bayonet ring) against
unauthorized use by means of a padlock
(shakle Ø = 5mm).
Maintenance sockets
16 A, 32 A, 63 A, 125 A
The plug can only be inserted into the
socket and withdrawn when the socket is
switched off.
In order to ensure the type of protection of the
socket acc. to the type label, also with the plug
inserted, the bayonet ring of the plug, fig. 1,
page 16, is turned to its stop onto the socket.
Attention:
When using other plugs with a lower
IP-protection than that which applies to the
maintenance socket, the IP- protection of
the whole combination (plug and socket) is
reduced.
The data as per point 3 and 4 will have to
be taken into account for use.
Applications other than described are not
permitted without Cooper Crouse-Hinds /
EATON's prior written consent.
During operation, the instructions listed in
section 7 of the operating instructions will
have to be observed.
The user alone is responsible for the
appropriate use of this plug and socket
system in consideration of the basic
conditions existing at the plant (see
technical data).
After a short circuit, the functioning of the
plug and socket system shall be checked.
Since, due to the flameproof encapsulation,
it is no longer possible to check the switch
contacts, the complete switch insert (flange
socket) will have to be replaced after
repeated short circuits.
6

Installation

The respective national regulations as well as
the general rules of engineering
(e.g. IEC/EN 60079-14) will have to
be observed for the mounting and operation.
The improper installation and operation of
plugs and sockets may result in the
invalidation of the guarantee.
6.1

Mounting

The maintenance sockets can be mounted
without opening the enclosure.
If the wall sockets are mounted directly onto
the wall, they may rest evenly only at the
respective fastening points. The chosen screw
shall match the fastening hole (see dimensional
drawing) and it must not damage the hole (e. g.
use of a washer).
The device shall be fastened diagonally with at
least 2 screws.
The sockets shall be mounted in such a way
that the plug opening points downwards
(see page 16, fig. 2).
The 16 A and 32 A sockets can be clipped onto
the size 4 and size 5 Cooper Crouse-Hinds /
EATON mounting plates. They are pushed
laterally into the guiding groove on the left-hand
side of the mounting plate (see page 16).
The respective mounting instructions will
have to be observed.
6.2
Opening of device /

Electrical connection

The electrical connection of the device may
only be carried out by skilled staff
(IEC/EN 60079-14).
The insulation of the conductors shall reach
up to the terminal. The conductor itself shall
not be damaged.
The correctly stripped conductors of the cables
shall be connected according to the respective
regulations.
The connectible min. and max. conductor
cross-sections as well as the required
minimum cross-section for the current
loading shall be observed (see technical
data).
When using 10 mm² cables for connection
it is reccomended to cut back the outer sheath
for approx. 200 mm and remore the required
length of insulation on each core before
entering cable into the 32 A socket outlet.
All screws and/or nuts of the connection
terminals, incl. the unused ones, shall be
tightened down.
The conductors shall be connected with
special care in order to maintain the
explosion category.
The supply terminals are designed for the
connection of copper conductors. If multi- or
fine-wire connecting cables are used, the wire
ends will have to be handled in acc. with the
applicable national and international regulations
(e.g. use of sleeves for strands).
Attention: The cable lugs should be crimped
onto the cable in a workmanlike manner.
It is to be ensured that the required "Ex-e"
min. air gaps are kept.
