Application
The display module DIM 611-... is an
input unit designed in line with the
Vario concept for placing door calls.
The call controller RC 602-... is
required for management of door
calls. The DIM 611-... is also used to
display customer-specific data stored
in the RC 602-... .
There are four buttons provided for
operation of the DIM 611-... . The
>> key is used to scroll through the
name register alphabetically accor-
ding to the starting letter of the
surname. The > key is used to scroll
alphabetically between all the names
entered with a particular starting
letter. When the name of the
required user appears, the displayed
user is called by pressing the button
with the bell symbol. An entryway
controller EC 602-... (e.g. door
release) can be triggered using the
button with the key symbol. In
addition, an external door release
button can also be connected. To
actuate the door release function
using the button with key symbol,
an EC 602-... is always required in
the system.
When any of the buttons is actua-
ted, an acoustic feedback signal is
given off (bleep tone).
Up to 8 DIM 611-... units can be
connected to an RC 602-... .
If several DIM 611-... units are con-
nected to an EC/RC 602-..., an
unambiguous address is required for
each DIM 611-... . However, if a
DIM 611-... is used in combination
with a COM 611-... in a door loud-
speaker, and you wish the user's
call/code number to be displayed
during input via the COM 611-... at
the DIM 611-..., these two modules
must be issued with the same
address.
Using the BCD rotary switch on the
back of the DIM 611-..., the address
is set between 1 and 8 (default
setting „1"). The settings 0 and 9,
and double allocation of numbers
will result in failure of the
DIM 611-... .

Range
The total length of the conductors
laid throughout the Variobus net-
work must not exceed 2000 m.
The loop resistance (forward and
return line between DIM 611-... and
RC 602-...) must not exceed
20 Ohm. With a core diameter of
0.8 mm, a range of appr. 250 m
results.
The power supply to the Variobus
components is effected via a sepa-
rate transformer TR 602-... .
Steps must be taken to ensure that
the supply voltage to each unit never
drops below 9 V/AC during maxi-
mum current consumption. In con-
junction with Siedle door communi-
cation systems, certain ranges must
be observed between the door loud-
speaker and line rectifier / between
the door loudspeaker and in-house
telephone. For more details, see the
Planning and Installation Guidelines
for Door and In-house Telephone
Communication.

Conductor routing
In order to comply with the general
safety regulations for telecommuni-
cation systems in accordance with
VDE 0100 and VDE 0800, and to
avoid disturbing influences, atten-
tion must be paid to separate
routing of heavy and light current
cables. A distance of 10 cm must be
adhered to.
