«MANUAL» MODE
To set your device, proceed as follow:
- Choose the welding voltage using the voltage selector
Example for the UNIMIG 160-2: position 1 for 0.6mm metal sheets and position 4 for 3 mm metal
sheets.
- Adjust the wire speed with the potentiometer .
Advice
The wire speed adjustment is often determinated by the «noise »: the arc must be stable and emit low
crackling.
If the speed is too low, the arc will not be continuous
If the speed is too high, the arc will crackle and the wire will push back the torch.
« SYNERGIC » MODE
This function automatically controls the wire speed. There is no need to set the wire speed manually.
Position the wire speed potentiometer
Select:
-
Wire type
Wire diameter
Power mode (4 position switch)
To select the right position in accordance with the thickness of the workpiece, please refer to the
"synergic mode" table on the previous page.
From the combination, the UNIMIG determines the optimal wire speed and the device is ready to weld. It is
also possible to adjust the wire speed if necessary by adjusting the potentiometer + or – manually .
The last welding configuration is saved in the memory automatically
GAS (for steel welding) :
In synergic mode, the UNIMIG 160-2 and 200-2 determine the welding settings in accordance with the gas
used. By default, in steel welding the machine is set to « Argon + CO2 ».
To change the gas and set the machine to C02 mode or go back to Argon + CO2 mode :
1- Press « Type » for 5 seconds until the panel switches off, then release.
2- After 5 seconds, choose the required setting using the « mode » button.
Normal (2T)
Delay
CO2 100%
3- Confirm selection by pressing the « Type » button, or waiting 5 seconds.
4- Once confirmed, the machine reverts to the normal operating mode but the gas mode chosen will stay
selected, even when the machine is switched off.
ADVICE & THERMAL PROTECTION
• Always respect the basic rules of welding.
• Do not block/cover the ventilation holes of the machine.
• Leave the device plugged in after welding to allow it to cool.
• Thermal protection: If the machine becomes too hot, the warning light will illuminate and the machine will
stop. The cooling time will be a few minutes; length of time will also depend on the external temperature.
DUTY CYCLE & WELDING ENVIRONMENT IN USE
• The welding unit describes an output characteristic of "constant current" type. The duty cycles following the
standard EN60974-1 (at 40°C on a 10mn cycle) are indicated in the following table:
X / 60974-1 @ 40°C
(T cycle = 10 min)
UNIMIG 160-2
UNIMIG 200-2
UNIMIG 250-4
Note: The machines' duty cycle has been tested at room temperature (40°C) and has been determined by
simulation.
• This is a A-class device. It is designed to be used in an industrial or professional environment. In a
different environment, it can be difficult to ensure electromagnetic compatibility, due to conducted
disturbances as well as radiation. This device complies with IEC 61000-3-12.
