Environmental regulations –
disposal of lamps and batteries
UV low pressure lamps contain fluorescent materials and other waste contain-
ing mercury. Batteries contain heavy metal compounds.
Within the European Union the national implementation of the Waste Frame-
work Directive 75/442/EEC (in Germany the Closed Substance Cycle Waste
Management Act (KrWAbgG)) applies. According to the national waste dis-
posal laws and in accordance with the municipal waste regulations, proof
must be provided of the proper disposal of UV lamps and batteries.
Your local sales agency will be happy to assist you with the disposal of UV
lamps and batteries.
–
Inform your local agency of the number of UV lamps and batteries by
telephone or in writing.
The agency will then provide you with the name of a free delivery point for
your lamps or will take care, in conjunction with a disposal company, of the
collection and proper disposal of the lamps. This service is available for a fee.
Outside Germany, the respective national legislation applies. Please contact
your local sales agency.
