4. PREPARING

4.1 CONNECTING THE GAS SUPPLY

Either a G3/8" (manually controlled appliance) or a G1/2" (remote
controlled appliance) gas connection should be made with a (CE
approved) G1/2" stopcock in the supply pipe, in the chimney.
Be sure that the controls do not get twisted during connection. Avoid
tension on the controls and the gas line.
Once the gas is connected, check all fittings for leaks.

4.2 PREPARING TO INSTALL THE HEARTH

Note! The hearth can be installed first and then the Multi-Vent
system. However, certain constructional circumstances could make it
necessary to install (part of ) the Multi-Vent system first.
Please refer to section 7.5: "Installing the Multi-Vent system".
If you use an existing flue:
- you must ensure that you install the special chimney vent unit
before you install the hearth;
- The underside of any decorative beams in the mantle must be
insulated with non-flammable material (e.g. Nobranda) to prevent
the beam from becoming too hot due to the rising heat and the
heat emitted from the convection openings.

5 INSTALLING THE HEARTH

Position the hearth in the proper place.
Connect the Multi-Vent system. If you wish to use the heater as a
wall-mounted heater, connect it in accordance with the instructions in
section 6.
Place the concentric pipes in the connector at the rear of the hearth,
if you are using wall or roof venting. If you wish to install the Multi-
Vent gas hearth first, you can also use a fitting piece for the
connection between the Multi-Vent gas hearth and the Multi-Vent
system. This fitting piece should be ordered separately.
If you are using an existing chimney, you should first draw the
flexible inner pipe (ø 100 mm) with the outer pipe through the
chimney connector plate and then fasten it to the Multi-Vent gas
hearth's flue gas exhaust using a clamping strip. You can then push
the outer pipe into the combustion air intake pipe.
Connect the hearth to the gas supply. The appliance is fitted with a
pressure regulator.
Check all the gas connections for leaks. Use soapy water and/or a
gas-leak detector.
Using the clamp, fit the thermostat sensor supplied in a cool place
close to the hearth - on the skirting board, for example.
The barrier plate at the rear of the hearth should be removed in the
following cases:
2 - 10 m
1. When the height of the pipe is between two
2. When the exhaust pipe goes directly
