2.5 Connecting Power

2.5.1 AC Power

Verfy that the ntended AC power source matches the AC adapter ratng. Unplug* the
rubber access cap underneath the scale, connect the adapter to the power receptacle
through the cut-out, then plug the AC adapter nto a power outlet.
* NOTE: When cleanng the scale, turn off the unt, remove the AC adapter and plug
the rubber access cap securely to avod entry of water nsde the scale.

2.5.2 Battery Power

The scale wll begn chargng wth the AC adapter connected accordngly, and auto-
matcally swtches to battery operaton f there s a loss of power. Normal operatng
tme on a full charge s 50 hours on a 15-hour charge cycle. D0 NOT contnuously
charge the scale longer than 24 hours.
Low battery charge s ndcated by the flashng LED over the
AC power or a charged battery s ndcated by the llumnated LED over the
cator.
NOTES:
• To maxmze battery power, the scale can be set up to enter Sleep mode
(only decmal ponts are dsplayed) after 2 mnutes of nactvty, or auto-
matcally turn off after 15 mnutes of nactvty (Secton 5.2).
• Chargng the scale must be performed n a dry envronment.
• Plug the rubber access cap to the adapter receptacle to ensure the scale
s protected when operated n a wet envronment.
• If the scale s not used wthn 3 months, recharge and dscharge the bat-
tery fully 3 tmes to maxmze the battery condton.
• Dspose of the lead-acd battery accordng to local laws and regulatons.
BATTERY IS TO BE REPLACED ONLY BY AN AUTHORIZED OHAUS
SERVICE DEALER. RISK OF EXPLOSION CAN OCCUR IF REPLACED
WITH THE WRONG TYPE OR CONNECTED IMPROPERLY.

Initial Calibration

When the scale s operated for the frst tme, a Span Calbraton s recommended to
ensure accurate weghng results. Before performng the calbraton, be sure to have
the approprate calbraton weghts. Refer to Secton 6 for Span Calbraton procedures.
