Instructions for installation and transport
The roof bracket attachment system is only suited for tile roofs. The installation may only be carried out by
qualified personnel. Only the supplied material should be used for installation. The substructure and its
connections to the building should be designed by structural engineers in accordance with the local conditions.
The use of a carrying strap is recommended for transporting the collector. The collector must not be lifted at the
connections or on the threading. Avoid impacts and mechanical action on the collector, especially on the solar
glass. If the aluminium tray collectors have a protective coating, this must be protected from sunlight and
removed just before installation.
Structure
The collectors may only be mounted on roof surfaces and substructures with sufficient load-bearing capacity. The
structural load-bearing capacity of the roof or substructure must be tested by local structural engineers before the
collectors are mounted. Here, particular attention should be paid to the quality of the timber substructure with
regard to the durability of screw connections for attaching the collector mounting devices. It is particularly
important to have the entire collector structure tested in accordance with DIN 1055, Part 4 and 5 by a local
structural engineer in regions with heavy snowfalls and strong winds. The assessment should also incorporate any
special features of the particular site that could lead to increased loads (foehn winds, air jets or eddy formations
etc.).
Lightning protection
The metal tubes of the solar circuit must be connected to the main potential equalisation bus via a conductor
(green/yellow) with a cross-section of at least 16mm² CU (H07 V-U or R). If a lightning protection system exists,
the collectors can be connected to it. If not, the collectors can be earthed to an earth rod. The earthing conductor
must be routed outside the house. The earthing electrode must also be connected to the main potential
equalisation bus via a conductor with the same cross-section.
Connections
(screw connections)
Depending on the design, the connectors must be connected with one another and/or the connection pipes using
Whitworth threads and union nuts with flat-face seals. If flexible hoses are not to be used as connecting elements,
precautions must be taken to protect the connection pipes against temperature fluctuations caused by heat
expansion (expansion bends/flexible piping). In such cases, no more than 6 collectors may be connected in series.
Larger collector arrays must be assembled with expansion bends or flexible members inserted in the links
(IMPORTANT: check the pump design). Ensure that the flat gaskets are in the correct position. When tightening
the connections, always balance (counter) the torque with a pliers or another spanner to prevent damage to the
absorber.
Collector angle / general notes
The collector is suitable for angles between 15° (minimum) and 75° (maximum).
The ventilation holes in the collectors may not be closed when installing the system. All collector connections and
ventilation holes must be protected against water and other contaminants such as dust, etc.
Connecting support rails
If several support rails are to be mounted in series, they must be connected with the connectors above and below.
Collector warranty
The warranty lasts for 5 years from the date of purchase. Warranty claims are only valid if the manufacturer's
original antifreeze is used.
