5. Installing the Battery
IMPORTANT:
When a battery is installed for the first time or when a battery is replaced, you will
hear a beep tone and the security code will automatically become "0". Also, the
device will be in active mode. To deactivate the unit, press "0" and the "# ON/OFF"
key. A short confirming beep will sound and the "ARM" light will go out to verify the
unit has been turned off.
1. Remove the 2 screws from the bottom of the unit and install a 9V alkaline
battery or lithium battery for extended life (not incl.). Deactivate the unit as
described above and close the unit.
2. If the "LOW BATT." light illuminates when activating the unit, the battery is low
and a fresh one should be installed.
6. Using an Optional AC Power Adapter
The HAAS008 alarm is designed to operate with battery or optional AC power
adapter. When an AC power adapter is used, continuous power for the unit is
provided from AC power, with the internal battery as back-up if the power should
fail. In addition, when the AC power adapter is used, the keypad will be illuminated
at all times indicating the device is receiving power. When the unit is in the armed
mode the "ARM" LED will stay illuminated constantly until disarmed. The AC
adapter required is a 9 or 12V DC output, 200 – 500mA with a 3.5mm centre
positive male plug.
7. Selecting a Mounting Location
When selecting the mounting location, please keep in mind that for best coverage,
the unit should be placed in a corner located between 1 and 2m (3 to 6 ft.) above
the floor. The area of coverage provided by the unit is 110° horizontally with a
range of approximately 12m (40 ft.) from the unit (see fig.).
Before installing the mounting screws, you may want to
test the location you have selected.
8. Walk Test
After selecting the mounting location, you may perform a walk test to determine if
the area to be protected is completely covered.
1. Slide the side switch to "ALARM" and enter "0" on the keypad followed by the
"# ON/OFF" button. You will hear a short beep and the red "ARM" light will
illuminate momentarily. In a moment, the red detection indicator in the middle
will again illuminate. The device is now ready for the walk test.
2. Begin the test by walking in front of the unit. The detection light will illuminate as
long as motion is detected. Increase your distance from the unit as you walk
through the protection area. Once out of range, it should illuminate again.
3. After testing the detection area, leave the room for more than two minutes. The
HAAS008 is designed to exit the walk test mode and arm itself after no motion
has been detected for approximately two minutes. When entering the room
again, the detection indicator will illuminate accompanied by short beeps. You
have been detected as an intruder. The device will sound the pre-alarm alert
(short beeps) for about 10 seconds before the internal 110dB siren will sound. If
