- jacks PHONO (15) for the connection of up to two
GB
turntables with magnetic system
- jack DJ-MIC (6) for the connection of a DJ mono
microphone
2) Connect the amplifier to the output jacks AMP (17).
3) For audio recordings connect the recording unit to
the output jacks REC (18). The recording level is
independent of the position of the MASTER control
(13).
4) The input channels can be monitored via stereo
headphones (impedance ≥ 8 Ω) ahead of the faders
(10) (see chap. 5.4 "Pre-fader listening of the chan-
nels"). Connect the headphones to jack PHONES
(7).
5) Finally connect the supplied plug-in transformer to
jack (14) and then to a mains socket (230 V~/50 Hz).

5 Operation

Prior to switching on the mixer the MASTER control
(13) should be set to minimum position to avoid a
strong switching noise. Then switch on the mixer with
the power switch (1). The red LED "POWER" above
the switch lights to indicate that the unit is ready for
operation. Then switch on the connected units.
5.1 Basic adjustment of the input channels
For an optimum level adjustment of the signal sources
connected to the input channels set all gain controls
(4), equalizer controls (5) and the crossfader (11) to
mid-position. The selector switch (12) for the DJ micro-
phone must not be in position TALK.
1) Select the connected signal sources with the input
selector switches (3).
2) The overall level of all connected audio sources is
adjusted with the MASTER control (13). Set the
MASTER control to approx.
tion, e. g. to position 7.
3) To control a channel, set the faders (10) of all other
channels to minimum position.
4) Feed the audio signals (test signals or music pieces)
to the respective input channel.
5) Control the level of the channel with the fader (10).
There is an optimum control if the green 0 dB LEDs
of the level display (2) shortly light up with music
peaks. The red LEDs light up in case of overload.
After level adjustment the fader should be set to
2
approx.
/
of its max. position so that there is
3
enough control range for fading in and out. If the
fader is moved up slightly or moved up very much,
the level must be matched by adjusting the input
amplification: Turn up or turn back the GAIN control
(4) of the channel correspondingly.
6) Then adjust the desired sound with the equalizer
controls (5) of the channel. By adjusting the three
equalizer controls the high frequencies (HIGH con-
trols), the midrange (MID controls), and the low fre-
quencies (BASS controls) can be boosted (max.
12 dB) or attenuated to a great extent (max. 26 dB).
If the controls are in mid-position, there is no influ-
ence on the frequency response.

7) Carry out the level and sound adjustment for the
remaining connected input channels as described
above.
5.2 Crossfading between channels 2 and 3
After carrying out the basic adjustment of the input
channels (see previous chap. 5.1), fading between
channels 2 and 3 is possible with the crossfader (11).
1) Set the faders (10) of channels 1 and 4 to minimum
position.
2) Move the faders of channels 2 and 3 upwards ac-
cording to the desired volume. Adjust the desired
level which is present at the master output AMP
(17) with the MASTER control (13). In case of over-
load [red LEDs of the level display (2) light] turn
back the master control and/or move down the
faders of the input channels.
3) For fading in channel 2/fading out channel 3 move
the crossfader to the left.
For fading in channel 3/fading out channel 2 move
the crossfader to the right.
If the crossfader is in mid-position, the signals of
both channels are passed to the outputs at the
same time.
5.3 Mixing of the connected audio sources
1) Move the crossfader (11) to mid-position.
2) Turn up the MASTER control (13) so far that the
mixing relation of the connected audio sources can
be adjusted in an optimum way.
3) Move the channel faders (10) up and adjust with
them the desired volume relation of the audio
sources amoung each other. Set the faders of the
channels not used to minimum position.
4) By means of the LED level display (2) adjust with
the MASTER control the desired overall level which
is present at the master output AMP (17).
There is an optimum control if the green 0 dB
LEDs of the level display shortly light up with music
peaks. In case of overload (red LEDs light) turn
back the master control and/or move down the
faders of the input channels.
5.4 Pre-fader listening of the channels
With the PFL facility each input channel can individ-
ually be monitored via headphones connected to jack
PHONES (7), even if the corresponding fader (10) is
set to minimum. Thus, e. g. the desired title of a CD or
the optimum point of time for fading in an audio source
can be selected.
1) For monitoring a channel press the corresponding
button CUE (8) (the LED of the button lights).
2) With control CUE LEVEL (9) adjust the desired
headphone volume.
CAUTION: Do not adjust the headphones to a high
volume. Permanent high volumes may damage a
person's hearing! The human ear gets accustomed
to high volumes which do not seem to be that high
after some time. Therefore, do not further increase
a high volume after getting used to it.
