2-Channel Audio Mixer
GB
Please read these operating instructions carefully
prior to operation and keep them for later reference.
1 Applications
This compact 2-channel audio mixer with USB inter-
face is suited for universal applications, e. g. for
audio recording on the computer. It is provided with
connections for a microphone (phantom power
available) and two line audio sources and has a
headphone output. The mixed signal is sent to the
output via RCA jacks and the USB port. It is also
possible to use the USB port as an input to transfer
audio data from the computer to the mixer.
When connecting the mixer to a computer,
power is supplied via the USB connection. When
operating the mixer without a computer, a suitable
power supply unit with USB connection is required.
2 Important Notes
This unit corresponds to all relevant directives of the
EU and is therefore marked with
.
G
The unit is suitable for indoor use only. Protect it
against humidity and heat (admissible ambient
temperature range 0 – 40 °C).
G
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never use
water or chemicals.
G
No guarantee claims for the unit and no liability
for any resulting personal damage or material
damage will be accepted if the unit is used for
other purposes than originally intended, if it is not
correctly connected or operated, or if it is not re-
paired in an expert way.
If the unit is to be put out of operation
definitively, take it to a local recycling
plant for a disposal which is not harmful to
the environment.
3 Setting the Mixer into Operation
Prior to connection, always turn back the output
controls MASTER (15) and MONITOR / PHONES
(16) to "0".
1) The input CH 1 IN (2) of the mono channel CH 1
allows to connect either a microphone or an audio
source with line signal level (e. g. effect unit):
– Connect a microphone via an XLR plug. The
XLR jack is balanced. To activate a 18 V phan-
tom power for a condenser microphone, press
the button PHANTOM PWR 18V (12). When
the phantom power has been activated, the
red LED (6) above the button lights up during

operation.

Caution! With the phantom power activated,
never connect any microphone with unbal-
anced output; it may be damaged.
To prevent switching noise, only activate /
deactivate the phantom power when the
mixer is not in operation or when the output
controls are set to "0".
– Connect a line source via a 6.3 mm plug. The
6.3 mm jack is unbalanced. When connecting
an electric guitar or an electric bass, press the
button (1) for Hi-Z selection of the line input.
2) The input CH 2 LINE IN (4) of the stereo channel
CH 2 allows to connect an audio source with
line signal level (e. g. CD player) via RCA plugs:
L = left channel, R = right channel.
3) To monitor the output signal ahead of the control
MASTER (15), the 6.3 mm jack MONITOR /
PHONES (8) allows to connect stereo head-
phones (minimum impedance 8 Ω).
4) At the stereo output MAIN OUT (5), the mixed
signal adjusted with the MASTER control (15) is
present. This output allows to connect e. g. an
amplifier, a second mixer or a recorder via RCA
plugs.
5) When operating the mixer without a computer,
the mixer must be supplied with power via a
power supply unit with USB connection delivering
an output voltage of 5 V and an output current of
500 mA. Connect the power supply unit via the
USB cable provided to the USB port (7) on the
rear side, then connect it to a mains socket. When
connected to the power supply, the mixer is
switched on; the power LED ON (3) lights up.
3.1 Operation with a computer
When operating the mixer with a computer, either
use the audio software supplied with the operating
system or an audio software installed additionally.
Various programs for audio reproduction / recording
are available on the Internet free of charge.
1) Start the computer. Connect the USB port (7) on
the rear side to a USB connection on the com-
puter via the USB cable provided. The mixer is
supplied with power via the USB connection and
is thus switched on. The LED ON (3) lights up as
a power indication. The computer recognizes the
USB interface of the mixer as an external device
for audio input and audio output, e. g. as "USB
Audio CODEC", depending on the operating sys-
tem. The required drivers (standard drivers of the
operating system) are available on the computer.
Note: If not all drivers required are available on the com-
puter, install them, e. g. via the original CD of the operat-
ing system. Restart the computer after installation, if nec-
essary.
2) Open the reproduction / recording program and
make the required settings for audio reproduc-
tion via the mixer or audio recording from the
mixer (
user manual of the program). Then
operate the mixer according to chapter 4.
If it is not possible to record or reproduce any
sound, make sure to activate the USB interface for
audio input or audio output in the system settings of
the operating system of the computer.
Hint: If the mixer is connected to a computer and to any units
earthed via their mains cables (e. g. amplifiers), there may
be hum noise due to ground loops. To eliminate this noise,
connect the mixer to the corresponding unit via a ground iso-
lator (e. g. FGA-40 from MONACOR).
4 Operation
1) For basic setting, set the control MASTER (15)
approximately to mid-position for the time being.
2) To assign the input signal of the USB port (7) to
channel CH 2, press the button USB ASSIGN TO
CH 2 (13).
When the button is engaged, the USB input
signal and the signal of the input CH 2 LINE IN
(4) use the same channel. Therefore, do not use
the input CH 2 LINE IN if you intend to reproduce
only the USB input signal via channel CH 2.
Note: When recording via the USB port, please pay atten-
tion to the risk of feedback if you assign the recording sig-
nal of the computer to channel CH 2 as an input signal.
3) Use the controls CH 1 GAIN (10) and CH 2 LEVEL
(9) to mix the signals of the input channels or to
fade them in and out. When a channel is not
used, completely turn back its control.
The LED PEAK (11) for channel CH 1 should
not light up or only light up briefly with level
peaks. If it lights permanently, turn back the con-
trol CH 1 GAIN accordingly.
4) Use the control MASTER (15) to set the level of
the output signal that is sent via the jacks MAIN
OUT (5) and the USB jack (7). If the overload
LED CLIP (14) lights up, turn back the control
MASTER accordingly.
5) The headphone output allows to monitor the out-
put signal independently of the control MASTER

(15). Adjust the headphone volume with the con-
trol MONITOR / PHONES (16).
WARNING! Never adjust the headphones to a
very high volume. Permanent high volumes
may damage your hearing! Your ear will get
accustomed to high volumes which do not
seem to be that high after some time. There-
fore, do not further increase a high volume after
getting used to it.
