1 Product Overview

The FreeCom 7000 aviation headset with built-in level-dependent hearing protection is
supplied with generic ear shells for immediate use. The purchase of this headset also entitles
you to a pair of free custom molded ear molds (with the exception of the cost of having your
ear impressions made). The use of these custom molds will bring even greater comfort and
enhanced hearing protection.
The following information in this User Guide is based on the use of FreeCom 7000 with its
custom ear molds. To fit the supplied generic ear shells please refer to the "User Guide for
Assembly" document supplied with your headset.
FreeCom 7000 is ultra-lightweight and equipped with a hearing protection system with level-
dependent attenuation. Loud noises like aircraft's, industrial machines, gun shots etc. are
instantaneously dampened to a comfortable level. Immediately after loud noises have dissipated,
FreeCom 7000 readjusts, so that normal sound, conversation or warning signals can be heard
(ambient awareness feature).
The custom ear molds (for left and right ears) are hollow shells manufactured from clinical
nylon and offer an unsurpassed level of comfort. These molds are also long lasting, due to their
outstanding resistance to chemical, mechanical and thermal effects.
An earJack
adapter, which contains an ear speaker, the boom microphone and an ambient
TM
microphone, simply clicks into one of the ear molds. A second earJack
another ambient microphone and ear speaker, is clicked into the other ear mold. The two
earJack
adapters are connected to the controlbox for the level-dependent hearing protection
TM
and ambient awareness. A cable then runs to a Quick Disconnect (QD) connector, which is in
turn plugged into a FreeCom Adapter (sold separately), allowing you to connect your FreeCom
7000 to your aircraft's audio panel.
