Application
Thermostat mixers are designed for hot water supply via pressurised
storage heater and utilised in this way provide the best temperature
accuracy. With sufficient power (from 18 kW or 250 kcal/min) electric or
gas instantaneous heaters are also suitable.
Safe limitation of the max. outlet temperature via preset thermostats on
every standard wash basin mixer (thermal scalding protection).
Thermostat mixers cannot be used in conjunction with low-pressure
storage heaters (displacement water heaters).
All thermostats are adjusted in the plant at a flow pressure on both sides
of 3 bar.
If temperature deviations should occur on account of special installation
conditions, the thermostat must be adapted to local conditions (see
Adjustment).

Specifications

Minimum flow pressure with downstream resistances
Max. operating pressure
Recommended flow pressure
Test pressure
Flow rate at 3 bar flow pressure
Max. water temperature at hot water inlet
Pre-adjustment
Hot water temperature at supply connection at least 2
than mixed water temperature
Minimum flow rate
A pressure reducing valve must be fitted in the supply line if static
pressures exceed 5 bar to satisfy noise level ratings.
Installation
Installation, see fold-out page II.
1. Place seal (C) and strainer (D) on hot water service valve (B) and
screw under-basin thermostat (A) to the hot water service valve (B),
see Fig. [1].
Refer to the dimensional drawing.
Mixer fittings
1. Place seal (C) and strainer (D) on cold water service valve (E). Screw
on union set (F) [ref. No. 47 533, see also fold-out page I], see Fig. [2].
2. Connect hose end to the front connector (G) on the under-basin
thermostat, see Figs. [2] and [3].
3. Screw cold water supply (H) for mixer to the union set (F), see Figs. [3]
and [4].
4. Connect hot water supply (J) for mixer to the rear connector (K) on the
under-basin thermostat, see Figs. [3] and [4].
Pillar taps
1. Place seal (C) and strainer (D) on cold water service valve (E).
Connect hose (P) [ref. No. 45 704, see also fold-out page I] directly to
cold water service valve (E), see Fig. [6].
2. Connect water supply (J) for mixer to the rear connector (K) on the
under-basin thermostat, see Figs. [3] and [7].
It is recommended that a flexible pressure hose is connected as
installation aid for fittings with copper pipes [ref. No. 45 120, see fold-out
page I].
Adjustment
Temperature adjustment, see Figs. [5], [8] and [9].
Before the mixer is put into service, if the mixed water temperature
measured at the point of discharge varies from the specified
temperature set on the thermostat.
After any maintenance operation on the thermoelement.
Open the single-hole mixer by turning on the hot water and check the
temperature of the water with a thermometer, see Fig. [5].
Check the temperature of the water at the pillar tap with a thermometer,
see Fig. [8].
If the desired temperature has not been reached, proceed as follows,
see Fig. [9]:
1. Pull or lever off cap (L) using a screwdriver, see fold-out page I.
2. Remove stop ring (M) and graduated collar (N).
3. The temperature can be adjusted, using a 3mm hexagon socket
spanner in the hexagon aperture on the thermoelement (O).
4. After reaching a temperature of 40 °C, attach graduated collar (N), so
that the 40 °C mark aligns with the red pin (S) of the thermoelement (O).
5. Attach stop ring (M), so that the red pin (S) is located in the aperture (R).
Temperature adjustment
For mixer fittings , the max. hot water temperature is adjusted at the
thermoelement (O) by pre-setting the thermostat, see Fig. [9].
The mixed water temperature is pre-adjusted at the thermoelement (O)
for thermostats in conjunction with pillar taps, see Fig. [9].
The cover cap (L) and the stop ring (M) must be removed to adjust the
temperature. The temperature can now be adjusted using the 3mm
hexagon socket spanner. Turn clockwise (to decrease temperature), turn
anti-clockwise (to increase temperature), see also indicator on the
graduated collar (N). Reinstall stop ring (M) and cover cap (L).

When the domestic water system is drained, thermostat mixers must be
16 bar
drained separately, since non-return valves are installed in the hot and
approx. 20 l/min
cold water connections. For this purpose, the thermostat must be

removed from the unions.

For maintenance

Shut off the hot and cold water supply.
I. Non-return valves
1. Unscrew and remove under-basin thermostat (A) from hot water
service valve (B), see Fig. [1].
- Remove strainer (D) and seal (C).
- Unscrew and remove nipple (V) using an 8mm hexagon socket
spanner (left thread).
- Remove nut (W).
- Remove non-return valve (X).
2. Unscrew union set hose (F) from front outlet connector (G) on the
under-basin thermostat, see Fig. [2].
- Remove non-return valve (T), see fold-out page I.
II. Thermoelement
1. Remove cover cap (L).
2. Remove stop ring (M) and graduated collar (N).
3. With a 22mm open-ended spanner, unscrew and remove
thermoelement (Z).
Readjustment is necessary after each maintenance operation on the
thermoelement (see Adjustment).
Inspect and clean all parts, replace if necessary and grease with special
grease.
Assemble in reverse order.
In order to ensure long-term protection from scalding, it is
necessary to perform a safety check on the fitting at least
once a year:
1. i.e. to check that the pre-adjusted outlet temperature is not
exceeded.
If the temperature has been exceeded, it must be readjusted.
2. Check if the safety shutoff is working:
- Open mixer fitting for hot water, or open pillar tap.
- Close cold water service valve (E), see Figs. [2] or [6].
- The amount of water now escaping must be no more than a thin trickle
of water. If this is not the case, the thermoelement (47 574) must be
replaced.
Replacement parts, see fold-out page I ( * = special accessories).
Care
