Maintenance, servicing and repairs

(in accordance with IEC/EN 60079-17 and IEC/EN 60079-19)

Repairs

Make sure that only authorised and trained personnel are permitted to
repair and service the equipment within hazardous areas (Ex zones).
Training for personnel should encompass training for various types of
protective and technical installations, relevant rules and regulations and the
general principles of area classifications.
You must ensure that the enclosure's protective IP degree is not
compromised. You may need to consult the manufacturer to ensure that you
maintain the protection level. Before beginning any type of work, make sure
that there is no explosive atmosphere in the vicinity of your working area.
Maintenance and repairs must only be undertaken using original spare
parts and after prior consultation with Weidmüller.

Inspection and maintenance

After opening the enclosure, visually check the lid seal to ensure that there
are no contamination or particles that could damage the enclosure's seal. A
visual inspection of the equipment should be carried out in accordance with
your particular installation environment.
This inspection should also verify that all certification data is clearly legible,
and that the lid screws are tightened with the correct torque. The enclosure
should be cleaned with a damp cloth during this inspection. Do not clean
the enclosure using a hydrocarbon-based cleaning agent!

Maintenance

Make sure you are in compliance with IEC/EN 60079-17 (especially the
check list in Table 2) and any other relevant national regulations that pertain
to the maintenance of electrical equipment in hazardous atmospheres.
Typical maintenance procedures are listed below:
• Check the enclosure seals for damage. Replace the enclosure if
necessary.
• Any discolouration indicates a rise in temperature and a potential hazard.
All installed and assembled products must be maintained according to
the supplier's instructions and in accordance with legal and operational
specifications.
