Application
Thermostat mixers are designed for hot water supply via
pressurised storage heaters and, utilised in this way, provide
the best temperature accuracy. With sufficient power output
(from 18 kW or 250 kcal/min), electric or gas instantaneous
heaters are also suitable.
Thermostats cannot be used in conjunction with
non-pressurised storage heaters (displacement water
heaters).
All thermostats are adjusted in the factory at a flow pressure
of 3 bar on both sides.
Should temperature deviations occur on account of special
installation conditions, the thermostat must be adapted to local
conditions (see Adjusting).

If static pressure exceeds 5 bar, a pressure reducing valve
must be fitted.
Installation
Flush pipes thoroughly.
These installation instructions for thermostatic mixers are
applicable both to replacements and new installations.
In the case of a new installation, special accessories must be
ordered, i.e. ref. No. 12 419, 12 400 and 12 407 for a vertical
installation or ref. No. 12 400 and 12 407 for a horizontal
installation.
For Cat. Pos., see fold-out page II.
Install S-unions and outlet elbow.
Screw-mount the mixer securely, see fig. [1].
In this connection, refer to the dimensional drawings on fold-
out page I.
The outlet pipe (C) must be shortened to the appropriate
length.
Thermostatic mixers are assembled at the factory for a vertical
mounting position.
If a horizontal position is required, the mixer must be adapted
as follows, see fig. [2].
1. Remove union connection set (F), screw plug (D) and
cap with screw (E).
2. Reinstall the removed components on the mixer body, offset
about one union in the anticlockwise direction.
Mixer No. 34 364 can be converted to a shower mixer by
means of the outlet nipple (G) supplied, see fig. [3].
1. Remove union connection set (F).
2. Remove cap with screw (E) and install in aperture requiring
to be blanked off.
3. Install outlet nipple (G), supplied, in the mixer.
Test unions for leaks.
Reversed union (hot on right - cold on left).
Replace thermoelement (T), see replacement parts
fold-out page II, ref. No.: 47 282 (1/2").
Adjusting
Temperature adjustment, see figs. [4] and [5].
Open the shut-off valve and check the temperature of the
water with a thermometer, see fig. [4].
With the safety stop depressed, turn temperature control
handle (J) until the water temperature reaches 38 °C, see
figs. [4] and [5].
- Remove cap (H), see fold-out page II.
- Hold temperature control handle (J) in this position and
unscrew and remove screw (I), see fig. [5].
- Pull off temperature control handle (J) and reinstall in such a
way that the 38°C mark on the knob coincides with the
mark (K) on the mixer body.
0.5 bar
- Hold temperature control handle (J) and reinstall screw (I).
- Reinstall cap.
1 bar
Temperature limitation
10 bar
The safety stop limits the temperature range to 38 °C. The 38 °C
1 - 5 bar
limit can be overridden by pressing the button (J1), see fig. [5].
16 bar
Prevention of frost damage

mixers must be drained separately, since non-return valves
80 °C
are installed in the hot and cold water connections. For this
purpose, the mixer must be removed from the wall.

Maintenance

For maintenance, see fold-out page II.
right
Inspect and clean all parts, replace if necessary and lubricate
left
with special valve grease.
= 5 l/min
Shut off the hot and cold water supply.
I. Non-return valve
1. With a 30mm open-ended spanner, unscrew and remove
mixer from unions.
2. Remove dirt strainer (L).
3. With a 12mm hexagon socket spanner, remove union
nipple (M) by turning clockwise (left-hand thread).
4. Remove non-return valve (N).
II. Thermoelement
1. Remove cap (H).
2. Unscrew and remove (I) and pull off temperature control
handle (J).
3. Unscrew and remove adjusting nut (A).
4. Pull off stop ring (B).
5. With a 24mm open-ended spanner, unscrew and remove
thermoelement (T).
Readjustment is necessary after every maintenance operation
on the thermoelement (see Adjusting).
III. Ceramic headpart
1. Pull off shut-off knob (O) and unscrew and remove
screw (P).
2. Remove snap insert (Q) and guide ring (R).
3. With a 17mm open-ended spanner, unscrew and remove
ceramic headpart (S).
Install in reverse order.
Replacement Parts, see fold-out page II ( * = special
accessories).
