3 Mounting

Before starting work, the voltage supply
(230 V AC) to the heating unit must be in-
terrupted.
3.1 Choosing a Suitable Installation
Location
The installation location should be chosen care-
fully as it can affect the efficiency with which the
room thermostat is able to control the system.
Requirements
• The installation room must be suitable for the
temperature regulation of the complete heat-
ing system.
• The radiators installed in the room should not
have thermostatic valves mounted.
Note: It is best to use preset manual valves in
the room in which the room thermostat
is installed. This enables you to set the
radiator temperature as low as possible.
• For the mounting location, select an interior
wall, if possible, and take care that neither
drafts or heat radiation (also not from behind,
for example, from ducts, hollow walls, etc.)
can have an effects on the regulator.
• There must be sufficient space below the
programmer to allow air to circulate unre-
stricted through the ventilation slots (shaded
area in Figure ).

4 Electrical Connection

Protection against contact: After the
electrical connection, the protective cover
must be mounted again with screws in all
cases.
– Observe all applicable regulations.
– Remove screw (c) and protective cover (d)
from terminal block (Fig.
– Connect the room thermostat using wires
rated at least H05VV-.. with the following
cross-sectional areas:
• Mains power:

– Wire up programmer as shown in the appro-
priate wiring diagram:

Attention:
If the regulator is connected to a KN..-8KP boil-
er, the jumper for the heating circuit pump con-
nection must be removed. This makes intermit-
tent pump operation possible. A detailed de-
scription is contained in the installation
instructions of the KN..-8KP.
– Refit protective cover (d) on terminal block
and fix with screw (c).
– Fit programmer top section (i) onto base.
– Set programmer.
