Replacing the Printhead

CAUTION!
The printhead can be damaged by static electricity discharges and impacts!
Set up direct print module on a grounded, conductive surface.
Ground your body, e.g. by wearing a grounded wristband.
Do not touch contacts on the plug connections.
Do not touch printing line with hard objects or your hands.

Remove labels and transfer ribbon.
When printhead is closed, loosen the knurled screws (A).
Turn red lever (C) counter clockwise to lift up the printhead.
If the printhead (B) is not disengaged on the pressure roller,
continue loosen the knurled screws (A).
Remove the printhead carefully to the front until you can
reach the plug connections.
Remove plug connections and then remove printhead (C).
Attach plug connections.
Position printhead (B) in the intermediate layer in such a way
that the printhead drillings correspond with the appropriate
drillings in the intermediate layer.
Lightly keep printhead mounting bracket on the printer roller
with one finger and check for correct positioning of the
printhead.
Screw in the knurled screw (A) and tighten it.
Reload labels and transfer ribbon.
Check resistance value on the type plate of printhead and if
necessary change the value in the menu Service
functions/Heater resistance.
NOTICE!
An important characteristic for a high quality print is the
parallelism of the focal line of the thermal printhead to the
pressure roll. Because of the fact that the position of focal
line of the printhead depends on fluctuations caused by
production, it is necessary to adjust the parallelism.
With the screws (H) the parallelism of the focal line of printhead to
the pressure roller can be aligned.
Turning clockwise moves the printhead backward.
Start a test print.
If the horizontal lines in the test grid are not parallel with the label
edges, continue adjusting the parallelism with the screws (H).
Set the best possible image quality by maintaining parallelism via
turning the screws (H) in an alternating fashion.
Differences in the density between the two sides are still
permissible.
Tighten again the fixing screws (G).
