– Ask the user to actively release the knee from stable position by
moving the weight over the toe simulating roll-over and then back
to foot flat.
– Roll over can also be simulated by pelvic rotation and it is
important that the user is aware of this, to ensure stability when
turning.
Locking Mechanism settings
• Use the lock disable cap to temporarily activate or deactivate the
locking mechanism(Figure 8). To deactivate the lock put the lock
disable cap on the lock and to activate the lock remove the lock
disable cap.
• To deactivate the locking mechanism permanently: remove the knee
cap (Figure 9). Remove the two split rings (Figure 10). Use 2.0 mm
hex key to remove the lock pivot pin (Figure 10). Remove both lock
and springs (Figure 11). Put the knee cap back on.
LEVEL GROUND WALKING
Adjust the stance release setting if needed:
Stance release setting (Figure 12):
• Use 4 mm hex key to adjust the stance release position, this setting
must be adjusted without weight bearing to prevent damage.
• Clockwise: Earlier stance release and initiation of flexion becomes
easier.
• Counter-clockwise: Later stance release and increased stability.
When a suitable knee release setting has been found, the extension assist
can be adjusted to the user's self selected walking speed.
Extension assist setting (Figure 13):
• Insert a 4 mm hex key in the round holes of the grey spring housing
from the rear to adjust spring tension.
• Right turn: Increases extension assist.
• Left turn: Decreases extension assist.
When preferred extension assist setting has been achieved the constant
friction can be adjusted to eliminate terminal impact if neccessary. Please
note that excessive constant friction may cause insufficient extension
speed.
Constant friction setting (Figure 14):
• Use 4 mm hex key to adjust the constant friction, be careful not to
overtighten, max torque is 3 Nm.
• Clockwise: Increases friction.
• Counter-clockwise: Decreases friction.
As confidence increases, have the user walk outside of the parallel bars.
Make sure the user can change directions and turn around without using
pelvic rotation on the prosthetic side, as this may cause inadvertent knee
joint release.

SITTING DOWN

• Place feet evenly (or prosthetic foot slightly anterior) and shift weight
onto forefoot using hip flexors. Knee will initiate flexion.
• Use sound limb to accept weight for sitting
