Distance to inflammable materials
Please refer to local building regulations to determine the size of the fireproof area in front of
the fireplace. The insert must be positioned at least 30 cm above the floor if the floor is made
of flammable material.
If inflammable material is located near the brickwork casing, there must be a minimum of 50 mm of
non-flammable insulation (fire batt) between the casing and inflammable material. This applies to
all of the casing's surfaces. The thermal conductivity of the insulation must be less than 0.09 W/m
x K (as measured at 200ºC); i.e., thermal conductivity must be lower than 0.09 W/m x K.
Requirements for chimney and smoke pipe
The chimney must be of a sufficient height to enable an adequate draft and to prevent smoke.
The stove requires a draft of at least 12 Pa. The chimney must have a minimum opening
equivalent to Ø 150 mm. The chimney opening should always be at least the size of the outlet
socket of the insert stove. The chimney must have an easily accessible soot door.
Smoke pipe and chimney must always be suitable for a stove connection. Ask your WIKING
dealer for more information.

Mounting and Connection

(Drawing A)
The WIKING Optic consist of a moveable, external brickwork casing, as well as an insert that
is pushed into place and connected once the brickwork casing has been assembled.
The WIKING Optic can be connected in two ways:
1. Mounting and connecting in an existing fireplace.
2. New construction around the stove insert, possibly including heat ducts to other rooms.
Proceed as follows to change the smoke outlet from top outlet to rear outlet:
1. Remove the insert from the casing.
2. Remove the smoke ring on the top of the stove by unscrewing the three screws and lifting
it off.
3. There is a cut-out for the flue duct in the back of the casing. Break off the plate within this
cut-out to make a hole in the back of the casing that the smoke ring can fit into.
4. Remove the cover plate that covers the hole for the smoke outlet in the back of the insert by
unscrewing the three screws (Torx Bit no. 30) and lifting it off.
5. Install the cover plate on top of the insert above the hole for the smoke outlet with the three
screws.
6. Place the smoke ring in the smoke outlet hole in the back of the stove and secure it with the
three screws.
