1. Mounting and connecting in an existing fireplace (Drawing A1-A3)

Before mounting the stove insert in a brick-built fireplace, the regulating damper in the existing
chimney must be removed and the smoke neck, if any, should be widened so that the fire tube
from the stove insert can be connected directly to the chimney. Any bricks positioned on edge
at the bottom of the fireplace should also be removed.
In advance, decide with a specialist or the chimney sweep where a soot door (1) should be
placed, so that the fire tube can be cleaned from above while the door of the stove insert
remains closed.
Mounting the Smoke Pipe (drawing A1)
First mount the joining flange
the fire tubing so that the lower edge of the joining flange matches the edge of the smoke ring,
at the same time making sure that the other end of the fire tube fits the chimney.
Trim approximately 3 fireproof batts of 50 mm each
space and cut a hole in the centre to fit tightly around the tube.
Place the fire tube in the chimney so that the joining flange corresponds to the given measurments.
Top flue outlet
a.
Distance from the front of the wall to the centre of the whole in the joining flange:
224,5 mm.
b.
Height over the bottom of the stove insert: 705 mm.
Rear flue outlet
a.
Distance from the front of the wall: 325 mm.
b.
Height over the bottom of the stove insert to the centre of the whole in the joining flange:
571 mm.
Now push the three batts up around the fire tube and press them up into the chimney thereby
achieving a compact and tight-fitting seal.
External fresh air connection – the fresh air opening must never be closed
(drawing A3)
WIKING Optic is prepared for a fresh air system. It is possible to supply the stove with fresh air
(10) either through the rear side of the insert or through its bottom. Fresh air can be supplied in
the form of either an external or an internal fresh air supply. The insert is supplied as standard
for stoves with a rear fresh air opening. The fresh air opening must never be blocked if a fresh
air system is not installed, as this will prevent the necessary supply of air for combustion.
Mounting the casing (Drawing A2 and B)
Before the casing can be mounted, front frame and insert must be removed from the casing.
Lift the front frame, pull it out and remove it. Next, by removing the four screws from the sides
the insert can be pulled out.
Push the brickwork casing (6) in place in the base of the fireplace. Ensure that it is positioned
completely horizontally, and that the front edge of the casing is 20 mm behind the brickwork.
