2.7. Residual risks

the supplied micro-encapsulated screws can break
or come loose if they are re-used several times. in
some circumstances, this can cause the racing shell to
become detached from its anchoring in the event of an
accident, and thus present a danger to life and physical
condition.
Use only the supplied micro-encapsulated screws
when installing the racing shell.
Use the supplied micro-encapsulated screws only
once.
Tighten all screws with the specified torque.
3. Installation
NotICE
the interplay between the racing shell and the adapter
is crucial to how the entire seat system behaves.
Mount the RECARO p1300gt racing shell only
together with the independently tested RECARO
adapters 7308864.
Only this provides the necessary safety in motor
sports.

3.1. Positioning the racing shell in the vehicle

Select the most comfortable seat position for yourself
that is safest for driving the vehicle:
You must be able to completely hold the top edge of
the steering wheel without lifting yourself out of the
seat with your back.
Your knee must still be slightly angled when the clutch
or brake pedal is fully pressed.
Make sure that the restraint systems and the roll cage
are correctly installed (see the manufacturer's instal-
lation instructions).

3.2. Scope of delivery

Check the scope of delivery for completeness before
installation.
Racing shell (Figure A)
(1) Racing shell, 1 ea.
(2) back seat cushion, 1 ea.
(3) front seat cushion, 1 ea.
(4) Replaceable pads, 9 ea.
(5) Mounting aid, 2 ea.
(6) Screw M8x25, 10.9, 4 ea.
Adapter 7308864 (Figure B)
(7) Adapter, 1 ea.
(8) transport lock, 1 ea.
(9) length adjustment lever, 1 ea.
(10) Screw M10x20, 10.9, 4 ea.

3.3. Installation sequence

Refer to Pages 3 to 4 for the associated dra-
wings.
Mounting adapters in the vehicle
NotICE
the adapters must be secured in the vehicle and the
associated structural modifications to the vehicle must
be done in accordance with the stipulations of the re-
spective national motor sports association or of the
FIA and as per the applicable version of the regulations
that apply.
Fitting the mounting aid (Figure C)
Screw the mounting aid (5) into the racing shell on
both sides.
Mounting adapters in the vehicle
Adapter 7308864 (Figures D, E)
1. lift the adapter (7) with the transport lock (8) into the
vehicle. the red length adjustment lever (9) has to
point to the door.
2. Mount the adapters (7) in the vehicle using at least
four M10 screws, strength class 10.9.
tightening torque: 35 Nm.
3. dismantle the transport lock by loosening the
4 screws (10).
Mounting the racing shell
1. thread the racing shell with the pin (11) at the front in
the hook of the adapter (figure f).
2. Define the seat angle by selecting the front holes
(figure g). fix the seat angle using 2 screws
M10x20 (10) on each side (figure H).
do not tighten the screws yet!
3. lower the racing shell until the mounting aids are
positioned on the adapters (figure i).
4. fasten the racing shell in the rear section with
2 screws M8x25 (6) on each side (figure H). do not
tighten the screws yet.
Removing the mounting aid (Figure J)
Remove the mounting aid (5) from the racing shell (1)
on both sides.
Final mounting (Figure K)
tighten all 8 fastening screws (6) and (10) with a tigh-
tening torque of
23 Nm +2/–3 Nm.
DANGER
Danger of serious injury if the racing shell beco-
mes detached from its anchoring.
Use only the supplied micro-encapsulated screws
when installing the racing shell.
Use the supplied micro-encapsulated screws only
once.
Tighten all screws with the specified torque.
