2.2 Use for Transferring the Patient
The leg belt is used for assistance with transferring the patient to a wheelchair, toilet, chair or car seat.
It can be used in conjunction with the slide board, turntable, raising aid or holding belt.
The leg belt is used for the transfer between the bed and the wheelchair or for equivalent transfers of
a seated patient. The leg belt is positioned around the legs of the seated patient below the knees and
closed with the Velcro fastener. The carer places a foot between the patient's feet. The leg belt holds
the patient upright for the transfer and allows the carer to stabilise the rotary motion with light pressure
against the leg belt.
3. Maintenance / Care
The leg belt does not require any special maintenance. It can be washed in a washing machine at
60° C and is suitable for low dryer temperatures (45 – 50° C). When using non-standard washing
agents, bleaching agents, softener or other chemical washing additives, the functional properties of
the product can strongly degrade. The robust material can be disinfected with the usual wipe
disinfectants. Check the compatibility before use where required on the basis of the disinfectant's
instructions. We recommend the use of alcohol- and aldehyde-free agents, e.g. Trionic®. There is also
some care information on the label.

4. Warranty


Petermann gives a warranty that the product is devoid of material defects and manufacturing
defects.

The warranty is valid for a period of 3 years. It does not cover any defects which are due to
improper use.

Petermann cannot be held liable for any accidental or indirect injury or damage.
5. Visual and Function Inspection / Safety Information / Re-Use
Repositioning products are also subject to natural aging. Check the equipment regularly and carefully
to make sure it is working properly and especially before re-use. Make sure that the product is in good
condition and that the material and seams are not damaged. Check the function of the product by
applying pressure and loading to the handles and make sure that the material resists the load and
does not break or tear. The high-friction has a rough surface to prevent slippage. The best way to test
these properties is by comparing the product with a new product.
For re-using the product it must be washed and disinfected before, see 3.


If the patient's mobility is restricted, it is essential to supervise the motions of transfer by
providing trusted help.

Make sure that the Velcro fastener of the belt is correctly closed when used and check the
fastener material functions correctly. Do not use a belt with faulty fastener material.

The function of the product may be adversely affected if it is washed with non-standard
detergents or bleaches, fabric softeners or other chemical detergent additives.

Carefully check the transfer surfaces, making sure they are stable and brakes are applied
(e. g. wheelchair, bed).
