Vielen Dank, dass Sie sich für ein Qualitätsprodukt aus dem Hause Dentaurum
entschieden haben.
Damit Sie dieses Produkt sicher und einfach zum größtmöglichen Nutzen für sich und
die Patienten einsetzen können, muss diese Gebrauchs an wei sung sorgfältig gelesen
und beachtet werden.
In einer Gebrauchsanweisung können nicht alle Gegebenheiten einer möglichen
Anwendung beschrieben werden. Bei Fragen und Anregungen können Sie sich gerne
an unsere Hotline (+ 49 72 31 / 803 - 550) wenden.
Aufgrund der ständigen Weiterentwicklung unserer Produkte empfehlen wir Ihnen
auch bei häufiger Verwendung des gleichen Produktes immer wieder das aufmerksame

2. Allgemeine Beschreibung
discovery ® / discovery ® smart gehören zu den Premium-Brackets im Programm der
Dentaurum-Metallbrackets, entstanden aus der Summe langjähriger Erfahrung im
Bereich Brackets. discovery ® / discovery ® smart sind als Ein-Stück-Bracket konstruiert
und in der MIM-Technik – Metal Injection Molding – unter Verwendung einer
speziellen Dental-Legierung auf modernsten Maschinen gespritzt. Die Brackets sind per
CAD (Computer Aided Design) optimal an die Zahnform angepasst und bieten Ihnen
ein optimales Handling. Die laserstrukturierte Basis sichert die optimale Haftung und
gewährleistet ein einfaches Debonding.
3. Verarbeitungsschritte
3.1. Patientenaufklärung
Klären Sie den Patienten über die möglichen Folgen und Risiken der Therapie mit
Brackets, insbesondere beim Debonding, auf.
3.2. Zahnvorbehandlung
Prüfen Sie jeden Zahn sorgfältig auf eventuell vorhandene Schmelzschädigungen, um
beim Debonding nicht von Zahnschädigungen „überrascht" zu werden. Bitte beachten
Sie für die Konditionierung der Zähne die Herstellerangaben des jeweils verwendeten
Bracket-Adhäsives.
3.3. Bracket-Adhäsivauswahl
Sie können unsere Brackets mit allen handelsüblichen Bracketadhäsiven befestigen.
Wir empfehlen CONTEC lc (REF 163-110-00), ConTec Go! (REF 163-307-00) und
SmartBond ® (REF 163-506-00). Bitte beachten Sie die Herstellerangaben des
jeweiligen Bracket-Adhäsives sowie die Tabelle Anwendungsbereich Adhäsive in
unserem Orthodontie-Katalog.
3.4. Entnahme und Handhabung
Fassen Sie discovery ® / discovery ® smart Brackets mit einer Klemmpinzette
(z.B. REF 025-277-00) mesial-distal oder an den distalen bzw. mesialen Bracketflügeln,
um sie aus der Verpackung zu entnehmen und gemäß folgender Arbeitsschritte zu
handhaben. Die laserstrukturierte Basis der discovery / discovery

nicht mit den Fingern berührt oder in irgendeiner Weise kontaminiert werden, da sonst
die Haftung negativ beeinflusst werden könnte.
3.5. Anwendung des Bracket-Adhäsives
Das jeweilige Bracket-Adhäsiv wird gemäß den Herstellerangaben vorbereitet. Tragen
Sie eine kleine, aber für die Benetzung der gesamten Bracketbasis ausreichende Menge
auf die Mitte der Bracketbasis auf. Dies garantiert eine optimale Haftung.
3.6. Applikation und Ausrichtung der Brackets
Nach dem Aufbringen des Adhäsives wird das discovery
Bracket wie gewohnt auf den Zahn gesetzt und angedrückt. Richten Sie das
discovery / discovery smart Bracket mittels der Angulierungshilfe an der Klemm-
® ®
pinzette optimal aus und drücken es so an, dass überschüssiges Adhäsiv seitlich
an der Bracketbasis austritt.
Antagonistenkontakt ist aufgrund der Abrasionsgefahr und / oder dem vorzeitigen
Bracketverlust unbedingt zu vermeiden. Bringen Sie ggf. eine Bisserhöhung durch einen
palatinalen Aufbiss, z.B. mittels Bite-Bumper™ (REF 705-000-00), an.
Vor dem Aushärten ist das ausgetretene überschüssige Adhäsiv vollständig zu
entfernen. Dies ist von besonderer Bedeutung für ein einfaches Debonding am Ende
der Behandlung.
3.7. Ligieren der Bögen
Nach Aushärtung des Adhäsives (Aushärtungszeit gemäß Herstellerangaben des
jeweiligen Adhäsives beachten) kann wie üblich mit Draht- oder Kunststoffligaturen
ligiert werden.
3.8. Bracket-Debonding
Das Debonding der discovery / discovery smart Brackets können Sie mit einer

Weingart-Zange (z.B. REF 003-120-00) vornehmen. Bogen ausligieren. Fassen Sie
die Brackets mesial-distal / diagonal an den Flügeln und nutzen Sie beim leichten
Zusammendrücken der Zange die Sollknickstelle der discovery
Brackets, um die Basis vorsichtig vom Zahn zu lösen. Drehen Sie das Bracket dann mit
einer kurzen Links- oder Rechtsdrehung ohne Zug vom Zahn. Für den Seitenzahnbereich
eignet sich besonders gut die abgewinkelte Bracket-Abnehmezange (REF 004-347-00),
mit der Sie das Bracket zwischen Bracketbasis und Adhäsiv abscheren.

5. Sicherheitshinweise
Risiken und Nebenwirkungen (allergische Reaktion) auf discovery
Brackets sind nicht bekannt. Sollten auf einen oder mehrere der Inhaltsstoffe allergische
Reaktionen bekannt sein, darf das Produkt nicht angewendet werden.
6. Lagerung und Haltbarkeit
discovery ® / discovery ® smart Brackets in der geschlossenen Verpackung lagern.
7. Hinweise für Produkte zum einmaligen Gebrauch
Das Produkt ist nur zur einmaligen Verwendung vorgesehen. Die Wiederaufbereitung
eines einmal benutzten Produktes (Recycling) sowie dessen erneute Anwendung am
Patienten ist nicht zulässig.
Aufgrund der mechanischen Beanspruchungen während der Behandlung und beim
Debonding können weder Maßhaltigkeit noch Hafteigenschaften der Brackets nach
dem Recyclingprozess gewährleistet werden.

2. General description
discovery ® / discovery ® smart brackets belong to the premium brackets in the Dentaurum
metal bracket range and are the result of many years of experience in the field of
brackets. discovery / discovery

and are manufactured on state-of-the-art machines using the MIM technique
(Metal Injection Molding) with a special dental alloy. The brackets are optimally adapted
to the tooth contour using CAD (Computer Aided Design) and are easy to handle. The
laser-structured base ensures the best possible bonding and guarantees easy debonding.
3. Processing
3.1. Informing the patient
Inform the patient about the possible consequences and risks of bracket treatment, in
particular during debonding.
3.2. Conditioning teeth
Check each tooth thoroughly for any existing damage to the enamel to avoid damaging
the tooth during debonding. Follow the instructions from the bracket adhesive
manufacturer for conditioning the teeth.
3.3. Selecting bracket adhesive
Our brackets can be bonded using all commercially available bracket adhesives.
We recommend CONTEC lc (REF 163-110-00), ConTec Go! (REF 163-307-00) and
SmartBond ® (REF 163-506-00). Please follow the instructions of the bracket adhesive
manufacturer and observe the table "Adhesives – areas of application" in our
Orthodontics Catalog.
3.4. Removal and handling
Grip the discovery ® / discovery
distal tie wings using crimping tweezers (e.g. REF 025-277-00) to remove them from
the packaging and handle according to the following steps. The laser-structured base

3.5. Applying bracket adhesive
Prepare the bracket adhesive according to the manufacturer's instructions. Apply a
small amount of adhesive to the center of the bracket base, enough to wet the entire
bracket base. This guarantees an optimum bond.

3.6. Placing and aligning brackets
After applying the adhesive, place, align and press the discovery
bracket in the usual way onto the tooth. Place the discovery
in the best possible position using the angulation aid on the crimping tweezers. Press
the bracket onto the tooth so that excess adhesive is pushed out to the sides.
Avoid contact with the occluding teeth due to the risk of abrasion and / or
premature bracket loss. If necessary, a raised bite can be used e.g. with Bite-Bumper™
(REF 705-000-00).
/ discovery smart Remove completely any excess adhesive before it has cured. This is particularly

important to ensure easy debonding at the end of treatment.
3.7. Ligating archwires
Once the adhesive has cured (curing time according to the adhesive manufacturer's
instructions), ligating can be completed in the usual way using wire or plastic ligatures.
3.8. Bracket debonding
We recommend using Weingart pliers (e.g. REF 003-120-00) to debond discovery
discovery ® smart brackets. Remove ligation. Grasp the bracket mesially distally / diagonally
by the wings, press the pliers gently together and disengage the base of the discovery
discovery smart bracket carefully from the tooth using the debonding channel. Turn
®
the bracket briefly to the right or the left, without pulling, to remove it from the tooth.
The angled bracket removing pliers (REF 004-347-00) are particularly suitable for the
posterior region as they shear the bracket off between the bracket base and the adhesive.

5. Safety instructions
There are no known risks or side effects (allergic reaction) for discovery
® / discovery ® smart
discovery ® smart brackets. The product should not be used if there is a known
allergic reaction to one or more of the material components.

7. Information for single use products
The product is intended for single use only. Reconditioning of a product that has
already been used (recycling) and its reuse on a patient is not permitted.
Due to the mechanical stress during treatment and debonding, neither the dimensions
nor the bonding strength can be guaranteed should the brackets be recycled.
